"We had a new air conditioner installed for our upstairs in June 2021. The sales guy assured me that this was an appropriate air conditioner for the size of the upstairs, however, our upstairs takes significantly longer to cool than the entire rest of the house (which is cooled by a different air conditioner and includes a downstairs and basement - much larger than our upstairs). Installation was a nightmare. They sent a tech who was newer and had never worked on installation in an attic. It was ultimately installed incorrectly and we had to have techs come out more than once to address issues. Both the sales guy and the "trainer" tech, who came to check in with the initial tech installing the system, asked me or insinuated that I needed my husband's permission before making decisions. I would not choose this company again."

"Just weeks after a seasonal tune-up on our air conditioning system, the system shut down. An early morning appointment was scheduled for the next day and the system was up and running in less than 15 minutes. A safety switch activated, perhaps because a panel was not replaced as tightly as needed during the tune-up. The technician was able to diagnose the problem quickly and apologized for the inconvenience."

"I have really liked most of the direct service I have had, in terms of things getting done. In fact, there was only one time that I had a real problem with A.B.C Plumbing, Heating, & Cooling. We had some pipes replaced, and they had to go through our crawlspace. When we had them replaced, the technician created a leak, which we didn't find out until mold had formed. We called back and explained it, and it took them forever to get in contact with the guy who did it to confirm he did the job and get before and after pictures. I appreciate them covering it, but the length of time was absurd. The lady who was handling the case made a lot of bad faith promises and was accusing me of lies and showing false pictures. When she finally agreed to send someone to look at it, the guy showed up with no mask and didn't even look at the issue, just said “I can smell the black mold”. The lady in the office said he didn't know that and couldn't know that. So why did she send him? But we finally got done. It just took a lot of work. But they are well worth the value, time, and effort. They are a great bargain for the price point that they charge. I don't like that they are with Wells Fargo, but what bank is easy."

"I was a club member. A plumber broke our tub faucet handle. Took it apart and put it together to say it was working fine. It took 3 months and 3 different techs with no previous info on the topic before it was fixed. We got our ducts cleaned for more than other competitors. They left an oil stain on a 1 year old concrete driveway. They missed 3 ducts and they did not even have a long hose to blow the dust from the long duct work runs. I had a Hvac tech out for 7 hours to look at our heater that was malfunctioning. He came up with over $7000 of repairs. I called another company and it is fixed for a $50 part that the ABC tech did not even have on his repair list."

"We had recently moved here to Chicagoland and were unfamiliar with electricians and plumbers. See ABC ads all the time..."consider it done." Wow is that ever misleading. We have experienced ABC electricians and plumbers, and in both instances the ABC technicians were completely unqualified to do their job. Completely. We would never under any circumstances ever employ ABC again. Ever. Furthermore, the job of the electrician, performed nearly one year ago, still is not completed (he damaged our ceiling and ABC has never so much as come out to inspect damage, let along fix it and despite us reporting the problem many times). The plumbers were even worse. Called to come out to do a simple task: replace sump pump. A job ALL plumbers had done many times and indeed all plumbers probably do this every day. The ABC team of plumbers installed the sump pump but because of improper installation our basement flooded later that same week! A new team of ABC plumbers came out and assumed the pump was faulty, replaced with a second new pump. AGAIN our basement flooded!!!! Can you believe this? We couldn't. (The original sump pump was actually working but had a faulty alarm beep...that's why we agreed to replace. The pump actually was working, the basement had never flooded prior to ABC coming to our home.) In the end, I FIXED the problem stemming from the improper installation and I even showed the inept ABC fools what they were doing wrong and how it should be done next time. So, no...we are totally unlikely to recommend."

"They replaced our furnace: a pipe was jointed improperly and we had a leak shortly after. They replaced a garbage disposer and pitched an upcharge of putting in a chrome pipe attachment instead of the pvc piping we already had that was working just fine) on the premise that the larger sized disposer needed the "strength" of the new (more expensive) chrome piping to insure there would be no leakage. Not even a month later I had black gunk dripping all over the bottom of my sink cabinet because the pipe connections were all loose. ABC: Consider it done...badly."

They came twice a year to service my unit. Once for the air and once for the heat. It was in the middle of those times so they did both at the same time. They also said they were going to give me a filter as part of the service they do twice a year. They claim I never had the heating service, even though I did, and they claimed the heater needed to be replaced. After I canceled my service, my club membership, they continued to charge me and claimed that I didn't ask to be taken off, so another lie."

"I would not recommend ABC to anyone. A very dear friend warned me about tHis company. I was gullible enough to listen to their hype rather than my friend. I am very disappointed in the way I was treated recently when I had my both my furnace and AC replaced! I asked the young man who came to my house to set up the appointment specifically if another “buy one get one free” offer was in the near future. Because he told there was no plan to do so, I went ahead and made the appointment to have the units installed. He didn’t offer me any kind of payment plan, and I was totally shocked when the two men who installed the units told me I had to pay the entire amount that day!!! One of the men even made a call to the office and repeated that I had no choice but to pay it all as no payment plan had been set up. As if that were not bad enough, a week or so later, I began hearing ads on both radio and TV for the very promotion I had asked about. I feel sick every time I hear the commercial with the no money down and easy payment plan. I have been a loyal customer but am totally disgusted with this company!"

I had to help him carry up and down my furnace and help him carry the old AC unit back to the truck. When paying $10K to replace everything you would think the service would have been better. I'm not blaming this technician at all. He was outstanding, but he should have had help. He was at my unit from 9am to 6pm since he was a one man show."

"Have used ABC for over 10 years and generally a great, responsive company. I do think the pricing is very high and over the past 3 years or so it is increasingly difficult to book appointments. I have been a member of their Advantage Club which usually meant I got priority when making an appointment and in the past I would have no difficulty getting a "first stop of the day" booked. Lately they have booked all these appointments and the "first apptmt of the day" is anywhere between 8-930 now whereas before a tech would be at your house no later than 830. Don't know if this is because of shortage of techs or expansion etc. but as a long time customer I have questioned whether I will continue to stay and certainly question paying for Adv Club when these issues continue."

After our AC installation, we called to have a repair done, but TWICE the company scheduled and FAILED to arrive or notify us that they weren't coming. When they finally did, they did not complete the repairs. This will fall back on ABC, because when the inspector came to look at the work, ABC FAILED the inspection. I called to notify ABC, left a message about the failed inspection and notes from the inspector, but I have not been contacted back. I hope ABC enjoys their $15,000 fine for incomplete work and horrible costumer care."

"The guys were great but the price was a little high compared to other companies. I have been having problems, when I had it inspected. the inspector checked the village that the permits were not pulled. I got an earful from the inspector and that it was my responsibility to pull it. I asked last Thursday to talk to a supervisor and I still have not been talked to about the situation. the unit is working fine. I think they were more interested in getting installed and didn't care after it getting installed. I almost got a fine from the village because there was not a permit pulled for it, ABC claimed that they will handle everything."

"I highly disagree with having the customer sign a contract just to get a discount on the service. The items were fixed but at a very steep cost. They advertised an $89.00 charge for a heating and cooling check which they never showed up for so I had to call and cancel so I could go to work. They try and milk their customers for as much money as possible. They make you sign a contract and then charge you a ridiculous amount of money. They need to work on the core business of getting things fixed."
