Shoddy installation, terrible accountability, and a worthless maintenance agreement. We hired John Stevenson Plumbing, Heating & Air to install a brand-new HVAC system in late 2023, including all new ductwork, in our 3000 sq. ft. newly-purchased home. We then paid for a semi-annual maintenance agreement with them. (Being new to San Diego, we did not realize that their price for the equipment and installation was wildly over-priced!) The biggest problem, however, was that their installation crew left a huge, unsealed 7-to-8 inch hole in our attic supply plenum, dumping conditioned air directly into our unconditioned attic for 33 consecutive months! Our handyman, who was doing unrelated work in our attic in July 2026, accidentally discovered that giant hole in the plenum (see video) only 48 hours after their last maintenance inspection. Despite paying $12.99 a month for the maintenance agreement, we have learned that those semi-annual inspections served no real diagnostic purpose. Instead, they were used as an opportunity for their technicians to push aggressive, overpriced sales pitches for non-existent "problems"—pitches we routinely declined because their diagnoses were flagrantly weak. Worse yet, their technicians completely missed that gaping 38+ square-inch hole sitting right in front of them, during five separate inspections, proving that their guaranteed "Thorough Diagnostics" is just an empty marketing slogan. I even filed formal complaints with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB). John Stevenson’s leadership refused to take financial responsibility. They only agreed to patch the hole; however, they have completely failed to take accountability or compensate us for the wasted energy, premature equipment strain, and money thrown down the drain for their worthless service plan. If you want a contractor that stands behind its work and treats customers honestly, avoid John Stevenson and look elsewhere.

On October 23, 2026, after maintenance personnel from "All Cities Water Treatment" discovered that the water pressure in my home was too high, I reached out to "John Stevenson." They responded promptly and arranged for Amram Flores and Ryder Filippini to visit today (October 26, 2026). Amram and Ryder carefully inspected every faucet in the house to ensure there were no leaks, and then replaced the water regulator valve, immediately resolved the high-pressure issue. These two plumbers reminded me of the plumber who helped subdue an attacker on a FlyDubai —they are humble, admirable, ordinary working people who serve as the indispensable heroes in our lives, always ready to step in and solve problems when we need it most.

Aidan was absolutely fantastic and by far the best plumber we’ve worked with! He was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, kind, and respectful of our home. He even wore shoe covers, which was such a thoughtful touch and immediately showed how much care he puts into his work. He was extremely thorough and took the time to check everything, including all of our sinks, bathrooms, and water heater, rather than simply addressing the immediate issue and leaving. He also offered genuinely helpful advice and made sure we understood everything along the way. It’s rare to find someone who combines this level of expertise, professionalism, and attention to detail with such a friendly demeanor. We couldn’t have been happier with the service Aidan provided and would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for an excellent plumber. Five stars all around!

I very happy with John Stevenson Plumbing! I have worked with several skilled, knowledgeable, and friendly servicemen over the past several services and I want to thank them all. To start the awesome office staff (specifically Luz) for making my urgency a priority and getting someone out to me that same day. Theo and Aiden were great at diagnosing my issuing and scheduling me timely for a tankless water heater replacement. Luis and Komin actually did the removal and install and they were first class!!! They did a wonderful job and answered all of my questions. And today I had another wonderful experience with Evan and Amram. They helped me deal with some maintenance issues at my Airbnb and were fantastic. Thank you!!!! 🙏
