“The service tech lied. He failed to perform important checks he marked as completed, including: 1. refrigerant (freon) levels 2. washing the unit, 3. checking filters. He said the filters needed to be replaced. Since I had replaced the filters that morning before he came, I was suspicious of the quality of his work. --- I had challenged the (lying) tech when he told me the refrigerant levels were OK, since one unit almost always needed freon at its annual check-up (they were both over 25 years old). He insisted the refrigernat level was OK. --- Besides, he said, he didn't have R-22 refrigerant to add if it was needed. I told him they didn't have R-22. Both systems had been upgraded to a newer refrigerant, 407-C. (It was written in 1 inch tall lettering on the power boxes). He said there was no such thing as 407-C, that he had never heard of it. I told him to Google it, which he did. He found out it was a common upgrade that he knew nothing about. --- He insisted he had to go. I paid him, and he left. After he left, I was so suspicious that I checked the uniits. Neither unit had been washed. I called and left messages with the service coordinator. Management did not return calls. After multiple calls, when I finally did get hold of them, they defended him saying he had done the work. I insisted they send out a different tech. --- That 2nd tech found both units were low on refrigerant, and the washing had not been done on either one. In summary, The 1st tech had lied about the work he did. Managment did not return calls, defended his lying about the work, and was reluctant to correct it. Horrible service all around. --- Note: Another reason I was suspicious of his work: If he had washed the units, he would have had to turn off the power, and he would have seen the 407-C note written in large lettering on the power boxes. Impossible to miss if he had done the work. --- In fact, one unit was leaking so badly it had to be replaced a couple months later. Neither of the 2 techs checked it well enough.”
