After 17 years of disappointment, frustration, and failed attempts to get a quality deck, I finally found Mr. Handyman—and more importantly, John Povey and his extraordinary team. Over the years, I’ve dealt with poor craftsmanship, over-sanding, failed stains and paint jobs, and unreliable contractors. But from the moment I met John and his crew, I knew this time would be different. Greg, the lead carpenter, is not only incredibly talented but also kind, communicative, and consistently had my best interests in mind. He checked in with me throughout the project to ensure every detail matched my vision—and added some of his own and absolutely crushed it. He led a fantastic team that included Griff (John’s stepson, who is learning the trade and doing excellent work) and Jim, who I was pleasantly surprised to learn is also my neighbor. Every day, they cleaned up so thoroughly it was like they were never there—and when the job was done, they even put my deck furniture back in place. Let the decorating begin! And it doesn’t stop with the craftsmanship—the office team, including John’s wife, was incredibly professional and responsive, sending timely email reminders and text updates. I especially appreciated the personal touch of contractor photos included with messages, so I knew exactly who to expect. As a final touch, when the deck was completed, John personally called to ask if there was anything they could have done better. That kind of humility and dedication to excellence is rare. Honestly, I wouldn’t change a single thing—the deck is absolute perfection and far beyond what I had imagined. Greg also custom-built shed doors for me, beautifully solving yet another issue from a prior contractor. They are both functional and stunning. I wholeheartedly and without hesitation recommend Mr. Handyman. If you’re looking for integrity, skill, communication, and a result that exceeds expectations—this is the team you want. Anila is absolutely fantastic to work with — friendly, organized, and always accommodating. We had to reschedule, and she made it completely seamless and stress-free, always handling everything with a smile. She’s the magic behind the operation! I’m a repeat customer — and nowhere near done yet. I’ve been in my home for 18 years and held off on upgrades because I just couldn’t find anyone I truly trusted. That changed with John Povey, of Mr. Handyman. They’ve completely transformed my home. Greg re-screened all of my windows, removed rotted wood that was causing hidden water damage behind my siding, and replaced it with maintenance-free trim that will last for years. But the real game changer was when Greg and Chuck removed a pony wall, redirected the electrical and cable, and installed a large new window in my den — a room that was once dark and gloomy is now filled with light and feels like new and hung my tv on the wall! They even offer 0% financing, which makes it easy to take on projects when inspiration strikes. You know exactly who is coming to your home with convenient text messages with photos and John, the owner ALWAYS calls after the job is completed to ask how it went, are you satisfied and to reiterate they stand behind their work and I stand behind them. I finally feel like my home is becoming everything I’ve dreamed of — a space that truly brings me joy and happiness. I can’t wait to see what we do next!

Well the initial list that was given and we had quoted somehow missed the floor installation that was clearly on my list. Then the handyman left before my railing came and said he would be back (note, he painted the wall and I decided to get the new railing to put back last minute).I got a call that they would send him back it’s only 10 min job. Next day comes and he doesn’t show up and I text and have in writing the office should have called you to tell you I would come tomorrow. I said ok. Just wanted to make sure you were coming back. Then next day is here and I get a call that they want to charge me to come back to install it. I just spent $5000 on various items they did and no customer appreciation or stand by their word. Very disappointing. It started out good. Guy was on time and did an ok job, not great. A little messy with the spackle and paint on other items. If you use make sure to get your quote emailed. I had no idea they forgot to include the floor.

Angelo C. Was a great guy! He was extremely courteous and respectful. If our front door was closed when he was going in and out of the house, he made sure to knock every-time and his work was EXTREMELY fast! As a matter of fact, we had him work on a bedroom door and it came out better than we originally had it when we initially got the house! Not only that, the price was EXTREMELY reasonable! I couldn’t be happier with their work! I’ll definitely be using Mr. Handyman of Huntington again whenever I need work around the house! Thank you Angelo and thank you Mr. Handyman!

I desperately needed a new screen door for the front and side doors of my house. I called the office and spoke to the Owner, John, and he was extremely knowledgeable and informative. We are in the middle of a construction project and after a discussion, we decided it would be a bad idea to do the side door until the construction was done. So we decided on a front door only at this time. I told him what I wanted and 2 days later a service tech was at our house with the exact door I wanted. They removed and discarded the old door, installed the new door and cleaned up the work area meticulously. The whole process from start to finish was a pleasure because they communicated well, and executed perfectly. I have used Mr Handyman for a few things in the past and I can say with a high degree of confidence that they are my Go To guys for any Household project and "Honey Do" type of work that is beyond my skills or things I just know I will never do! Highly recommend.

Disappointed. Part of a variety of repairs I hired them for was replacement of exterior vinyl shutters. The person who was here two weeks ago came back this morning with new shutters. He removed two of the four old shutters before realizing the new shutters were the wrong size. I suggested that he remove the two from the other window so the two upstairs look the same (no shutters at all) until the new shutters come I. A couple of weeks. He laughed it off saying no one would notice but me. Also forgot to check the lock on the back screen sliding door he installed two weeks ago, but he left without doing it. He also left bits of packaging on my porch — same as last time. Not meticulous work and pretty sloppy to not check the size of the new shutters before setting up today’s appointment, much less taking down two of the existing shutters.
