We first worked with Charlie, who came out to our house, to give a quote, which he provided in a timely manner. There was no pressure from him at all to move forward. Once we agreed, we electronically signed the contract which was very quick and easy. They then notified us of our scheduled start date and we paid our deposit a few days before the start date. Once again, electronically, quick and easy. Carlos and his team came out on the scheduled morning and we walked around and discussed the project. They were very friendly and professional. As they continued their work, they answered all our questions and listened and changed things as we requested them to do so. They did an excellent job. We've actually scheduled Charlie to come back out to give us a quote on screening in our patio. We highly recommend Texas Backyard Living to everyone.

Carlos and his team were absolutely OUTSTANDING. They arrived early, worked diligently and overcame every challenge. The fence they installed is both sturdy and beautiful. I highly recommend Texas Backyard Living and we will definitely be using their other services in the future.

Very professional service. Quality work and Jesus made sure all work was done as specified in quote. Pricing was best of quotes I received and salesperson Charlie Wright came out to walk the property with me and discuss my needs. I prefer this approach over a quote given based on a Google Maps approximation of my property.

Unfortunately we did not have the great experience that others have written about here. My sales rep Kyle was very nice and professional however when we met our goal was to get our backyard concrete color back to its original look. He even asked if I wanted to stay with the same stain color and I said yes. In his quote the top says power wash and reseal but right below that in the project notes it says Stamp and Stain concrete only. This quote came in and $2000 and we were ready to go. Day 1 - 2 guys spent approximately 1 hour power washing the deck. Day 2 they sprayed a clear coat in less than 30 minutes and said the project was complete. We hired them to bring the color back and they said they were done and the best they could do was take $100 off my invoice. Again Kyle even came out and agreed we had the same areas with no color other than a shine now. I'm just very disappointed in the overall result and thought this company would stand by what they claim to do. To your response today- $2000 to power wash and reseal is high and you offered to stain for another $2000 after I complained!.Complete bait and switch and I plan to carry out more poor reviews after you make this seem reasonable. $4000 for that is ridiculous!

About a year ago at the end of (2024) i had Texas Outdoor Living completely renovate my backyard, existing pool and driveway. This required new retaining walls, fencing, irrigation system, new pool equipment, re-plastering the existing pool, new pool light, cooping and waterline tile. the pool was in very bad shape. Kimbra and her team did an excellent job and are very professional.
"Nope. Difficult to schedule and the workers stole items from my patio."

"I’ve used this company now for the second time and so glad I did. Their communication and teams are top notch. High quality work and people! During any job, pivots naturally happen due to unknowns and this company is better at handling these types of things than any. I’ll be using them again. So nice to have a company like this you can count on for important projects. Thank you!"

"My first appointment, the crew simply did not even show up and the office never called to communicate with me what was going on. I only received an email the next morning that it had been rescheduled. When it was rescheduled, the crew showed up after 5pm to start the work, but didn't finish. They said they'd be back first thing the next morning - that didn't happen either. They didn't show until after 5pm again."

"I was beyond impressed with Texas Backyard Living / Texas Best Stain from start to finish. Jason was the project manager and of all the bids we received, he was the only one to additionally include several lower priced options; I noticed that all bids from other companies bid the most expensive choice only. It set the tone for a very honest and professional experience. Jason also went above and beyond working with the Dallas Permit Office to push for approval of the plan. Once work started, we had two crews, one for a new fence, led by Miguel, and a separate crew to build a new stain & stamp cement porch, led by Marcos. Both crews were on-time, professional, and did outstanding work. Thank you Miguel, Marcos, your respective teams, and Jason for leading the project from start to finish. I would easily recommend them to a friend!"

"Bad Points: 2 day job turned into a 5 day job. They failed to take retaining wall into equation for support pole replacement. Sales told me that any damaged boards would be replaced before staining. Found 3 boards after staining that needed to be replaced. Had a large amount of rocks and broken concrete in my lawn that techs said they would not take from property. I expected lawn to be in as close condition as it was before work started. Techs spilled stain on retaining wall and grass by wall. Grass died and still has not recovered. Do not recall seeing any safety glasses or PPE on techs while spraying stain or using jackhammer on concrete. Good Points: They uphold to the quoted price, even with the additional labor needed to remove concrete. Techs did a really good job in staining fence. Looked brand new."

"I contacted Texas Best Stained based upon their partnership with the Allen Americans. I asked for some estimates from them and asked for some ideas to address an erosion issue on the side of the house. I felt a retaining wall would be needed. They came out an discussed options and showed me some examples. Their quote was within the range of another company I asked as well. We decided to go with Texas Best Stained and they quickly and professionally built the retaining wall. I was surprised at how much effort was put into it and how sturdy they built it. I have had lots of comments from neighbors on how nice it looks."

"Contractor did not discuss pulling a permit and started work without pulling one. City came by and stopped work until permit pulled. Then it was determined that the fence was in the easement. This was all the day before the big February freeze. I was without a fence for 2+ weeks and I have dogs which meant I was walking dogs in near 0 temperatures. I told the contractor that I was paying thousands of dollars for a fence so why would I be upset about paying $250 for a permit. Needless to say, I was not pleased and have certainly learned by lesson about getting the permit before work begins."

"Service was hit/miss due, some due to weather conditions. The salesperson was very responsive and we set up the contract quickly. The power washing went ok, but after that everything got delayed by up to 3 months (March to June) due to the weather. I recognize that the rainy and windy weather we had in the late spring and early summer made it difficult to have a stretch when the fence could dry properly before and after the rains. Communication with the dispatcher was pretty bad, as there were multiple no-shows due to weather, but I didn't get any notification. I believe that there were 3 main times that the fence/garage was worked on. 1. Initial staining - was VERY sloppy. Uneven coats, missed spots, sprayed over the steel hardware on one side of my yard, but didn't do the other half. Didn't get to the 2 garage doors. Was supposed to fix the hardware on the two fences but both were still crooked and didn't close correctly. 2. Second staining - sent a guy in to finish up the job, but there was so much touch-up that he was doing, it was difficult to fix. I had to remind him that the garage doors needed to be stained before he left. 3. Last guy - fixed everything. Was really good about hitting all items that weren't fixed before, including re-installing the hardware on the doors. Took care of all the missed spots and the end result of the fence and the garage doors is great. I'm basing my rating on the END result and I wished that they had sent the 3rd guy in the first place. Even though it took a long time, I am happy with the job and do appreciate that fact that they didn't try to jam the job onto a wet fence or windy day."

"I never hired a fence company before so I didn't know what to expect. They installed the fence post with nails rather than screws and in one day my dogs tore down the fence and broke out so I replaced them with screws myself. If you're going to replace someone's gate make it as wide as the original. The gate is so narrow I can't get my lawnmower thru it. The older gate was a foot wider."

"I DO NOT recommend this company. I was looking forward to doing business with them after reading some reviews and talking to the salesman. Unfortunately, what he told me was not what I got. First of all, neither worker spoke English. One spoke very little (about like I do Spanish) so communication was very difficult. I was told by the salesman the old posts would be dug up but instead, they just cut them off at ground level. I also told him I wanted the fence built so that I could add a gate driveway gate at a later date. I don't see how that is possible they way they built the fence. They also did not clean up very well. I am still picking up bits of concrete and nails. Finally, for some reason, they did not put a swing gate up when they built the fence. I waited for literally a close to a month for them to put the gate up. Every time I called, I was told the office manager was in a meeting and would have to wait for her to call me back. I kept being told some would come out but no one showed. When they finally did, the gate did not match the fence and I told them I wanted it fixed and on the part of the fence that is metal, the post were different heights. Once again, no one came out but the office manager very rudely told me I had to pay the last installment. I told her I would not until I was satisfied. She said I could not do that and I told her I sure could. She was extremely rude at best. She would not give me the name of the owner of the company or let me speak to him. Finally after about another month, a guy named Jorge, I believe, came out. He was very nice and good. He wanted to know why they had not leveled the posts when they installed them. He then evened them out. He also couldn't figure out why the others couldn't figure out how to level the gate. He simply took a section of fencing and cut the width to size and it was fine. All in all, it took close to 3 months to get my fence completed! When I do add a driveway gate, I will definitely use a different company."

"We used Texas Backyard Living to re-build the fence around our backyard. Our 20 year old fence had fallen into decrepitude. Our new fence is lovely - a big improvement over the old one. It's a bit taller, the boards are horizontal, they straightened out a few odd kinks from the old layout. It's a really nice treated cedar fence and we're very happy with it. The team was a little slow to arrive the first day - they were finishing up another job that took longer than expected - but they finished the work in just a few days. Would highly recommend to anyone seeking a new fence."

"Kyle was super helpful getting my fence quoted and guiding me through color selection (options, pros/cons, etc). I wasn't home when the crew came but was able to get them access and came home to a beautifully stained fence with no spills, splashes or issues. They had clearly taken time to protect my yard, patio, driveway, cars, walls, etc from any overspray."
Clayton H.

"The representative came out fast and the quote was within my expectations. The timeline was a bit longer than I would have liked but we had a lot of rain that pushed schedules out so nothing they could really do about that. The delays were communicated quickly so that I was always informed. When the time came the crew showed up, took care of business, and everything looks great. I was impressed with the care they took on our playset to protect the parts that are not wood."

"1. The plan was to construct the patio covering without posts and that shingles could be placed over the roof. The workmen started the construction and discovered that a key stud was not in place to continue the construction as planned. Their explanation was "We have never seen construction like this where there was not a stud". They should have discovered that the stud was missing before they started the construction of the roof. The construction was not at the correct pitch so shingles could be applied. 2. The nails are not constant or consistent and they are shiny. They stick out like a sore thumb. The inconsistently placed nails are the first thing some people notice. Workmen came out and tried to correct the problem. They helped but it still looks, to me, like it was a cheap job and the workmen did not care what the cover looks like."

"While the workmanship was good, the customer service left much to be desired. My patio deck was mis-measured to the tune of an additional $2000.00 plus charge above what was quoted. Not enough material was ordered for my patio roof and since they had already removed the old roof, rain poured in over several days and then flooded into my game room. They tried to install an electric gate I did not order across my driveway. I received an email to confirm work was to begin on my pool deck but the type of material referenced was not what I ordered. When I called to be certain they weren't going to make a mistake, customer service became snippy with me and said of course they were going to put in the correct deck materials (I reminded her they were going to install the wrong fence which is why I called about the deck). Later, when the project was not even half way complete, customer service called me wanting the balance of the invoice paid in full. When I refused, I was told that due to all the "back and forth" they wanted to be sure they were going to get their money. I replied that the "back and forth" was due to errors on her company's part not through fault of mine and since the pace of the work was going poorly, I would not pay in full before the work was complete. I did send some more money but not all. I found their customer service to be sorely lacking."

"Work was done quickly and efficiently. Although the final price ended up being about 10% more than what I was quoted for due to an estimator error, the price and quality of the work/materials is very competitive. I do not think you can do better for this price and quality. Below average pricing for average work makes it very valuable"

"Texas Best Stain did a great job for me. Price wise, they weren't the cheapest estimate I received, but the quality of materials in their other finished products made them a good value. They communicated well with me and kept all appointments and schedules. Their workman ship has been very reliable so far. We had a retaining wall built and the steel pole structure is holding strong. The only issue I have is that while the wood looks great, I have had to ask them to replace a few panels due to the panel splitting. In further examining the wood, I don't know that it is as high quality as it looks (comes pre-stained). They do have a warranty that replaces panels should they break, so that's a reassuring feature. Overall, my new fence is the best looking fence on the block and we're very satisfied with it."

"A more qualified crew should have been sent for the job."
Dallas, TX Homeowner
"The fence looks beautiful and the representative was extremely responsive and timely to my requests for information. The price was in line with other quotes. The install date had to move one day due to weather, but that was noted as a possibility. However, the company could have been more timely in letting us know that they were not coming the day they were scheduled. The thing that was most upsetting was the damage to the sprinklers. They state that they are not responsible for damage, but wires were cut to a zone and sprinkler heads were damaged. This was an unexpected and added expense because we had to pay for someone to come repair it. They could have also done a better job of cleaning up. If we weren't there watching them I'm not sure it would have been picked up as much as it was. Time will tell just how good the fence is."

"The contract calls for #1 grade cedar pickets, but the ones we got are a mixture of #1 and #2, so they are #2 or better. There is a considerable price difference between #1 grade and #2 or better. I raised the concern to the sales who signed the contract but he said they are #1 grade. I asked him where the company bought/sourced the #1 grade cedar, he first points me to a wholesaler and then he said they just recently changed the place where they sourced their product, so the first answer was not correct. I talked to a few experienced fence companies and showed them the picture of the fence, and they all agree these are #2 or better pickets (not #1 grade) since #1 has strict requirements on knot size and knot density. So, I got very mixed feelings regarding the small project. I thought the Good Contractor's List meaning something but I am very disappointed. They should have delivered the product that the contract called for. Because of this, I can't recommend Texas Best Stain to any of my friend."
