UPDATE: Spoke with a different manager from Lawn Doctor today. He echoed what his associate said without having seen the lawn. Sent over photos as requested but they fell upon deaf eyes and ears. I understand the fact that it's been unseasonably dry this year. I responded as such, however the damage occurred last year after their first few applications. I use the Rachio watering system which is automatic and will adjust the watering schedule depending on conditions, 5 stars for that product BTW (hot it will water longer and more often, rain delays for heavy rainfall days, etc.) Is it possible that by some weird coincidence my yard started to deteriorate at the exact time I began my Lawn Doctor treatments? Sure I suppose that's a possibility. Equally, if not more plausible, is whatever was sprayed or treated or aerated caused the lawn degradation. The phone call with the other manager was equally unpleasant. Phone call amounted to him gaslighting me into all the things I did wrong and how this is entirely my fault. Needless to say service cancelled and review will stay up. Do not use them. Go to Trustpilot or Yelp and check the reviews there - average around 1.8 stars. Their google reviews are being skewed somehow. I'd also like to update the additional treatment they tried to upsell me yesterday - I originally said it was $800 when it was actually $1600. $1600 in addition to the hundreds of dollars I've already spent. Attached the upsell quote to this review for reference. Decided to try Lawn Doctor last year after a friend recommended them. I had some brown patches that I couldn't get rid of and they said they should be able to take care of that. It's been almost a year since I started with Lawn Doctor and my yard has deteriorated rapidly. The "fescue" grass has basically over taken the kentucky blue grass in the front yard. On top of that the once healthy kentucky blue grass has started to die off rapidly. I suspect when they aerated the equipment wasn't properly sanitized and my yard is now infected with some sort of fungus that's killing off the good grass allowing the fescue to flourish. That or whatever they sprayed ended up killing the healthy grass which is extremely unfortunate. I discussed this with the front office, they sent one of their supervisors, Luis, to look at the lawn. He insisted the issues were because it is dry, which I agree with, however, the photos from end of last season (about 4 months into treatment) show the yard was in steep decline last year on a 3 times/week watering schedule. Supervisor was combative and defensive to my wife and then with me when I followed up the following day. Luis recommended a series of Upsells to get the lawn to peak shape at the cost of around another $800. I hired Lawn Doctor to get my green grass back and fix a couple bare patches. Instead I got consistent spam upselling, rude supervisors and a dead lawn. I'm not looking at green grass, I'm instead looking at resodding my entire lawn. There are other outfits out there, don't let the "4.8 star" review fool you like it did with me. Do your research and get some good word of mouth referrals. The attached photos - First two pictures were pre Lawn Doctor, just me doing my own basic yard work. Final 5 are end of last season up to a week ago. Update:

I initially wrote a negative review about lawn doctor over seeding into my gardens, the person who was initially sent out to investigate wasn’t very helpful but after I left a bad review the right people in the company got eyes on the problem and called me to make it right. I really appreciate a company that can right their wrongs. Justin made me feel heard and was genuinely apologetic for the headache. I’m glad I gave them a chance to keep my business. My grass does look better than ever so it was hard to feel unheard about the damage they caused. I believe they do care about their customers and their work.

I unfortunately signed up for a year long subscription for the last two years with Lawn Doctors that included multiple visits/treatments throughout the entire calendar year. They convinced me to do this to maintain a healthy lawn! So a technician just came out And I’m asked him why half of my lawn in the backyard is completely dead. He couldn’t really give me a definitive answer, but claims that it might be mites and the only remedy would be to reseed!?! Interesting- So the very thing I’ve been paying for to prevent clearly was a HUGE waste of money? I told him to go ahead and do the last spray, but I’m calling the headquarters to cancel my subscription. The technician then came back to say it was possible that maybe another technician over-sprayed!?! This company is a joke!

Our lawn was so bad when we moved in. I mean so bad.. dirt patches, etc. I thought for sure we were going to have to do new sod and pay a fortune to redo everything. Lawn Doctor was my last hope this summer 2025. I decided to try them out this year to see what could be done and we are absolutely blown away at the results in just a few months time. All we do is water and mow, and we have had neighbors compliment our lawn and ask us what our secret is. Our technician, Omar, has been incredible. I never EVER write reviews- this might be the first one- but felt Lawn Doctor was more than deserving of this 5 star review. We get a ton of value out of this company. Thanks Lawn Doctor!
