I had a disappointing experience with Scaldino Basement Solutions and would not recommend them. We hired them to install crawl space encapsulation along with sump pumps and drainage work. After the job was completed, we started noticing a strong attic/crawl space odor remained and learned that the encapsulation was installed without a proper drainage system underneath or tied into it. This means water can collect behind the liner with nowhere to go, which defeats the purpose of waterproofing. At no point during the sales process was it clearly explained that encapsulation alone does not manage water intrusion. We feel this was a major omission, especially given the known drainage issues on our property. We now have a corner of our basement that stays wet for weeks after it rains and is starting to become moldy. Additionally Scaldino installed an outdoor french drain too shallow and grass can no longer grow in a space where we often host guests. Now we’re having to bring in another waterproofing company to evaluate and potentially redo parts of the work, which is frustrating and costly. I would strongly advise others to get a second opinion before moving forward and make sure any encapsulation system includes proper water management, not just a liner.

Deciding to undertake an enormous project as a basement was very difficult during these times. I could not put it off much longer. I had researched companies and reviews. I was convinced when I had read the review of Scaldino Basement in “Union County Best Picks” for home improvement. I am extremely happy that I had picked them. Beginning with Michelle in the office to Mitch the inspector. Mylar and his team worked tirelessly for 3 days. The clean up was excellent and the explanation of the system was thorough. I highly recommend them to anyone considering a service for their basement.

The estimator and office staff were accessible, responsive to calls, answered questions in a way that was helpful, sent an appointment date reminder, sent timely acknowledgement when they received payments. Very professional and well managed process. The person who did the installation of the pit and pump worked non stop and efficiently, was a professional, left the work area clean, answered questions that left me more knowledgeable, and left me with an installation that I am pleased with.

Scldinino Basement solutions did a very good job from giving a quote to completing the work. Mitchel was very professional and friendly explaining what needs to be done to fix step cracks in a couple of places in the basement and explained the procedure clearly. Michael who came to do the work was friendly, courteous, and did a very clean job. The lady at the office was very courteous answering phone calls. I am very pleased with the service done by Scaldino Basement Solutions.

I wanted to take the time to thank Scaldino Basement Solutions for an excellent job. I had reached out to them to work on repairing a major crack in my foundation. The company, all around, from the first phone call to the office, the estimate and review of the problem and finally the work was excellent. The Scaldino staff was always responsive, and their communication was extremely organized. The crew that came to do the work were some of the most respectful and polite workers I have ever had to deal with. They went above and beyond to make sure that the job was done right. It was clear that they cared about what they did. I was extremely pleased with the entire job. I would certainly recommend Scaldino as a company to anyone!
