We've used Shavitz for several years and have generally been happy with their service. However, our most recent experience was disappointing and has led us to cancel our service agreement. During our annual AC maintenance visit, the technician recommended cleaning the blower wheel fan in our furnace and quoted us just over $400 for the work. When we later called to schedule the service, we were told the technician had forgotten to enter the quote into their system. At that point, we learned the actual price was over $700. After speaking with the technician, Shavitz confirmed that he had indeed quoted the lower amount, but the best adjustment they were willing to offer was a price of $691. The situation was made more frustrating by poor communication. We spent over 15 minutes on hold, were told someone would call us back, and never received a return call. We ultimately had to follow up ourselves the next day. We are canceling our service contract for two reasons. First, we believe the company should have honored the original quote provided by its technician. Second, after getting additional estimates, we discovered the pricing was significantly higher than other reputable providers in the area. We ended up hiring AL Air Heating & Cooling, a family-owned business with excellent reviews, to perform the same blower wheel cleaning for $275.

This was initially a presumed thermostat repair. After a thorough inspection, we found that a heater repair done a couple yrs ago by someone else was not done properly. The problem was clearly explained and shown to me. Niall was very pleasant and very knowledgeable and clear with his explanations. Final repair plan to be determined. I am very satisfied with the service I received and would definitely recommend Shavitz to anyone needing HVAC service.

Charlotte and I have been using Shavitz for at least twenty years. They have installed and maintained multiple HVAC units, and we really like working with them. The service is friendly, efficient, and reliable. We even found a service tech we particularly liked, Mario, and it's been nice to have the continuity of both the company and Mario handling our HVAC year after year.

I ended up with Shavitz, because I followed my HVAC Senior tech, Greg, there. I am giving five stars because I am happy with Greg and my service, but I was tempted to give four stars for pricing. When my AC went out, I was pleased with how promptly they were able to finagle the schedule for Greg to assess my issue. The diagnosis was a failed capacitor, which is a very inexpensive and easily installed part - under $40 and usually cheaper than that. Between their diagnostic fee ($179) and the price to install, my invoice totaled $850. That isn’t just a bit overpriced, that is extremely overpriced. I called around to a couple of places after, and most rates were somewhere around $400-$550. A three hundred dollar price difference is pretty crazy. Greg truly is the BEST HVAC tech I have ever had in my time of home-ownership (honest, skilled, friendly, not salesy), and I was desperate to get my AC up and running immediately since I am going out of town; thus, I agreed to Shavitz pricing. I am not a cheap-skate, I am always happy to pay what something is worth, but this pricing for this specific service is highway robbery and pretty disappointing. I don’t know what I will do moving forward in terms of using Shavitz, but I thought it was important to provide this information so people aren’t shocked by their pricing in desperate times.

The Shavitz team was friendly and responsive from the initial quote through the entire installation process. Linas and Jarek were proactive, taking initiative and offering helpful suggestions to ensure the best results. They clearly knew what they were doing, cared about their work and went out of their way to make sure everything was done accurately. We felt confident in the quality of their work and comfortable knowing it was done right.
