"One thing that did happen, but wasn't their fault. We had drainpipes added on. They had to come back and fix our gate because it blew open, and destroyed one of the downspouts. They came out and replaced it and fixed it within a week. Everything was fine. The project manager came to do his final review, and I showed him what had happened. They fixed the latch on the gate so it wouldn't happen again, as well as replaced the drain pipe."

"They did a great job on the siding. But when I turned on the lawn water system after they were gone, it did not work. After looking at it I found that one of the shut off valves had been turned off. When I turned it on water shot out of the sprinklers. If there was a problem they should have told me. Instead they didn't say a thing and even the last walk though cancelled on me, now I know why. Good job on siding but not telling me about the broken water system was not good. NOTE: They had to move the system in order to put the siding on. Only one valve was turned of so they knew there was a problem."

"Joesia, Scott, Anthony and Chris from Polar Bear completed a prefinished James Hardie siding installation on my multi-level home. They tore off the old LP Inner Seal siding, and replaced some rotted OSB with new plywood. They wrapped the house with the James Hardie wrap, and sealed all penetrations. They blocked around the windows, electrical, and hose bibs, placed flashing over the penetrations and at the base, then placed siding square and level on all sides of the house, including numerous pop-outs with intricate fitting. They then sealed it with color-matched caulk. They did a fast, high quality job. I commend this crew and recommend Polar Bear Exterior Solutions for your siding needs."

I can glue it together no biggie but it would have been nice if they had said something and offered to glue it together. They also cut the screen on one of my windows. "Disappointed with actual project “start date”! When contract signed and 1/2 of projected cost deposited, 7/22/2020, was assured by Mark and Anthony that work would begin “end of Sept - start of Oct”. Work (tear off of gutters) began 11/25/2020. Leah called 11/23/2020 to inform that “sanican, dumpster and materials would be delivered 11/23/2020...” I asked her if she’d discussed with Kolby (he and I discussed placement of above, to keep portion of driveway clear to facilitate getting our car in/out of garage). She said “he hadn’t mentioned that...”, I attempted to detail where I felt above items should be placed..., she said,”materials would not be a problem. They’ll be put up on the roof!”. The project was siding, soffits and gutters only. No reroof! Throughout project there were numerous times I called Kolby, left voice mail, or text and left message, without him responding back. Only when I repeated/text do he respond. This happened too often. Painting contractor, Alex, had to be reminded about “poor coverage...” in numerous areas. He did redo these. Since project has been finished, I’m still scrapping paint specks (numerous areas) from many of the windows (exterior) around house. On 12/8/2020, crew repeatedly “popped circuit breakers) common to three exterior receptacle being used for power equipment. I’d reset same...eventual two of our inside GFI’s began popping - one in garage damaged (replaced by PB). I discovered that “most” of the extension cords being used had the ‘ground prong’ removed/pulled out. This day it was raining very hard and most of the cords were laying in water puddles. Since completion of job I’ve found two additional window screens torn (one small screen was replaced, Cory). Gutters - two downspouts have not been installed as discussed (with (Kolby) which will lead to “slime streaks” on lower roof when gutters are dirty (inside). The weather, during work and since completion has been terrible, thus I’ve not had good opportunities to inspect completed job thoroughly. I have noticed a couple of things that may need addressing in the Spring. I still need to inspect siding and gutters on upper level of house. I’ll have my son do this in the Spring. Overall, the personal interaction my wife and I had with crew(s), even amidst COVID, was always very positive! They were, I felt quite personable and respectful of our suggestions. The appearance of the finished work is outstanding, from afar (r.e., I’ve not done close inspection) and our neighbors comment thusly, often! FYI - Kolby promised two bottles of touch-up paint. Still waiting for those. I would probably recommend PB to others, if asked, but would give some caution(s) based on the items explained above. Stephen Bickler"

From my initial conversation with Roger to plan the replacement and expansion, through the logistics and designs with Joe, and ending with the actual deck removal and construction with Jonathan, every step has been phenomenal.Replacing a deck is no small project, and the plan for our deck was to create the deck we really wanted to enjoy for the next 20 years and beyond – a goal that matches perfectly with the services Polar Bear provides. Reviewing the features we were looking for and the wonderful material and design options with Roger and Joe, we quickly settled on a replacement plan that expanded our deck using low-maintenance, durable Azek decking materials. Polar Bear made the planning and design process painless for us: they engaged professional services on our behalf to handle the formal designs and create plans, handled the permitting with the city, and communicated with us for small design changes and adjustments.The deck project was expertly coordinated to occur alongside our siding replacement, providing both projects with maximum access to the superstructure of the house. As the siding project progressed, the old deck was cleanly removed (old footings and all) and Jonathan and his deck crew started lining up the new footing locations and the levels at which the deck would align with doorways. Even in this very early construction phase, the attention to details was astounding. Jonathan and his crew spent a few days carefully planning the locations and alignment of the new deck footings, ensuring they were all perfectly aligned and level. Even more impressively, they very quickly identified and resolved a rather unique challenge of our deck project: we have three doors with access to the deck and each is at a slightly different level (due to the way the house settled over the years). Jonathan came up with a very good plan that aligned one of the doors perfectly with the deck while keeping the other two doors very nearly level (introducing a barely-noticeable step); he kept us aware of the challenges and solution, giving us lots of opportunities to ask questions and – possibly most importantly – ensuring that we were aware of the expected results (which were awesome!).Once the footings were in place, the support beams were attached quite promptly afterward, and aligned with computer-like precision – Jonathan and his crew spent a fair amount of time with alignment strings to ensure that all the beams and supports were in the same plane. The line of support beams is aligned so perfectly that it’s almost surreal. It’s not often that one can say the underside of their deck is as tour-worthy as the top side, but the effort put into the support structure of this deck makes it a must-see for our visitors.The installation of the deck materials zipped along with impressive efficiency and precision. I frequently observed the whole crew working in a very efficient pipeline, measuring, cutting, and placing boards at quite a quick pace. In no time at all, they were placing the final glass panels for the railing. Once again, the small details made the final results all the more impressive: Jonathan and the crew went to the trouble of ensuring the tempered glass stamps were all oriented in the same position of the railings, creating a very clean and uniform appearance. And at every step of the way, Jonathan and his crew were just as excited to be building this amazing deck as I was to watch it come to life.The final result is an absolutely awe-inspiring deck that exceeded even my expectations, which is quite impressive given the high (and achievable) expectations we already had throughout the process. Every small detail, corner, junction, brace, and joint was perfectly placed and constructed. I’m now the proud owner of a durable, low-maintenance deck that I’ll be able to enjoy for more than a few decades.
