“ServiceMaster did some work for me on November 26th for about two hours. They billed my insurance company for about eight grand, and the experience was extremely negative. From zero to ten, with ten being extremely terrible, was a ten. The owner of ServiceMaster didn't—he told me that the fire loss didn't even start in the room where it started. I had to bring him back to the room. I was so embarrassed for him; he was an ignoramus. The service was probably charged three times the amount of time that they put in. I was there. It was extremely negative, beyond the lowest grade. The lady in the field and the office, they were courteous and extremely receptive to my requests, turning stuff around when I asked them to. But I would never, ever refer anyone to ServiceMaster in the future. At least, not the office out of that area. The salesman was an ambulance chaser at the property. When I showed up that morning, they said they were going to do there and do the job in a couple of hours, but they gathered up people and a couple of trucks and came in from another area.”

“It wasn't that great, to be honest with you. It wasn't so positive, satisfying. We had the water damage. They started out great, but they ended up lousy. We had floors that had to be completely removed; they didn't remove the corners. They were supposed to be removed because they took all the tile floors out, the bathroom sheets out. They told me a couple times they would do it, and they never came back and did it. That's some of the stuff I wasn't happy with you know. Why would you take all the tile floor out and leave like seven or eight tiles around the toilet seat. It doesn't make any sense. They took the toilet seats out, but they didn't take the floor. They left the tiles attached under the toilet seat area. They removed the toilet seat. They removed all the floor except the corner where the toilet seat was. I don't understand why they did that. I'd give them a D.”

“We had a clog in the drain. He didn't quote my sister a price. He showed up and then charged us close to $700, so was it a positive experience, absolutely not. Did he overcharge us tremendously? he did. But it's by the wayside now, so I don't care. But would call them again, absolutely not. I think they sub out and have independent contractors, and I think that they take advantage of people who don't have a clue of what the price really should be to have somebody snake a line. You call any plumber in the city, and you can get it done for a couple hundred bucks. Charging somebody five, six hundred dollars is— but that's how they make their money. So, that's how ServiceMaster makes their money.”

“ServiceMaster cleaned up water damage, and they ended up having to take a ceiling out and had a bunch of fans and stuff going, dehumidifiers. The guys on site kept in constant contact because we didn't know exactly where the water was coming from. We thought it was coming from one location—it ended up not being that—and they checked in all the time, and they made sure they came down. They went to take out the equipment, and they realized that it was too soon to take it out, so they left it, and they always explained everything. I'd give them an A”

“They moved out furniture and small properties, so that my house could be repaired after a fire. They came promptly, they knew exactly what to do, they were very helpful, and when I had another need because I had also scheduled to have new windows put in, they moved things around and covered them up so that could all happen as scheduled. They were friendly and helpful, and they did not need a lot of direction. After all, they knew more about it than I did. I'd give them an A”

“They were drying up my basement. It needed to be aired out because of the water. They were very on top when I called them; they were very much on top of the job that had to be done. So, very reliable, and when they say they're going to be there, they're there at that time. I'd give them a B. The only faulty thing I would say about them is that it's a bit expensive, a little steep on the price.”

“They were great. I had a little water leak in my basement. They dried it out and replaced the carpet. They did what I asked them to do. They did a really good job. They were easy to work with, they came really quickly, and they finished it—because it was water you want it out of there as quick as possible, so they were very quick. I'd give them an A”

“We had a water problem. Our water heater broke down and caused a flood. ServiceMaster came in and took care of it very professionally. They made us feel comfortable. They checked on us every day to see if it was drying out the way that it was supposed to. We live in a condo, so we had to make sure there was no mold. “The experience was very positive. We had a water leak, and the ceiling opened up. And what they did was seal the ceiling with plastic and put in big fans to dry out all the floors and everything. They had them on for a couple or three days, and it dried everything out. They dried the ceiling out and all the floors and everything. They were just so efficient and so accommodating. “Our basement pipe had plugged and flooded sewage into our basement. They cleaned that up, cut out bits, loaded up disgusting things, and all that good stuff. They were incredibly hard working. I believe Eric was the foreman, and he had a couple different guys with him. I think one of them was Carolos. I forget the name of the other one. “I wouldn't say it was positive. I wouldn't recommend them. I had some water damage in my basement. Nothing happened the way my insurance company told me that it was going to happen. I had to force the issue at every step in order to get anything done. From people I've talked to, and from my understanding, ServiceMaster is supposed to come in when there's water damage, take care of the problem, and clean everything out. That just wasn't the case. It's just a C from me; mediocre.”

“They've probably done work for me. I have used them for my place and my mother-in-law's place. It was a positive experience, for the most part. They were there drying out a little flooding. There was a little leak in the air conditioning unit. They were very helpful and very accommodating. They got there when they could get there and did the job that they needed to do. That's what I like. There was something I don't like. They removed base boards and disposed of them—I would have removed and re-used them. I'd give them a B.”

“Everything was fine. There was no mold. They tested it and said there was no mold, but they wouldn't give me a certificate saying that. They said the only way I could get something in writing was for me to pay for them to do a remediation and treatment on the mold. And they charged me over a thousand dollars for it. Needless to say, I got what I paid for, and I got my piece of paper so I could close. But I will not be sending any more customers to them. I think if they say, ‘You don't have a problem’ they shouldn't be charging you for remediation. But they get you in a situation where you're desperate to get it resolved, and you don't want to call three or four other people to tell you the same thing. So, I just paid and got it done, but I wasn't happy with the experience. I've referred that company to many customers, being in the insurance industry, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. I wouldn't use them again, and it's not because they did bad work. They definitely didn't do bad work. I just think it's deceitful that they would charge someone, when they don't have a problem, to remediate something just to get a certificate to say that they'll guarantee the work. I didn't ask them to guarantee any work. I asked them to test to see if there was mold. And the answer was ‘No,’ so why couldn't they charge me $5 and say, ‘OK we tested it. There's not a problem.’ I thought that was shady. I'd say the quality of work they've done—I've used them in the past—the quality is good.”

“I'm mixed on them. I'd been away for a month, and I'd shut my water main off. It was ten degrees out, and I had water running down my ceilings and walls. The remediation team lead thought my insurance might not pay because I shut the water main off. They did a certain amount of work and left at one in the afternoon, and by three, I had relayed the issue to my insurance adjuster, and it wasn't an issue. They did a good job doing as much as they did, so it was positive in that aspect. I called the insurance company, and they were swamped with calls, so I chose them; I asked if they did business with my insurance company, and they did. I'd give ServiceMaster an A.”

“This was a year ago. They were great. They were quick and responsive, they did what they were supposed to do, and they left. There were no problems at all. There was water damage, so they helped clean up the water in a lot of different areas. They had to demolish some, take out insulation, and just do cleanup in that regard as well. There was some demolition involved in the impacted areas as well. I'm in the insurance business, so I'm familiar with them, and that's why I chose them. I would go with an A.”

“They did some work about a year ago when we had that winter storm. They were very good. They were pretty quick and thorough. They had hazmat stuff when they went in the garage. They had the blowers in a couple rooms to get the wetness out. The roof inside the garage went out, and they pretty much took everything out. It was a two- or three-day ordeal. After that, it was mostly the blowers being in the room for two days. They did water damage and mold remediation. I'd rate them an A; they were very good.”

“It was fine. It was fine. They were professional. They were very informative. They gave me a lot of information. My only negative is I wish they didn't put a ton of holes in my walls every foot without letting me know first because it was really a bear to get a contractor to come in and patch all the holes. They had to rip up my whole wall instead so that was really annoying. Other than that, they were fine. I'd give them a B. They did water damage for me in hopes that mold would not grow.”

There was a bit of a curveball with the issue, and they rose to the challenge, so it was a good experience. They did a good job. I think we might have used ServiceMaster in the past. They were a little rough in some areas, and then the insurance adjuster didn't catch it when it should have been caught, so they were a little rough on the walls, but I wouldn't take their overall score down for that, so they were excellent. They did what they were supposed to do, and they were nice through the whole process. They did a couple things for us. We had problems with water, so they had to put holes in the wall and remove wood. Then, they set up fans to dry it all out, and they cleaned it all up. That was in several rooms. They pulled off the floorboards and they pulled out a bunch of floor boards and they drilled holes everywhere and then I still, after they were supposed to have dried everything and I paid them a lot of money, a couple of my rugs got mold on it. I don't think everything really did get entirely dry.”

“It took quite awhile to get the appointment scheduled. I have had trouble following up with the company since. They were not able to come pick up the equipment at a time that was convenient for me so I had to make special arrangements even though I had told them I was going to be leaving the country. When they came back, they did not put my refrigerator or my stove back in the position and they did not put my, some of my baseboard back. They came because I had a flood, a pipe burst. It was water damage remediation. I'd rate them a B.”

“They were very prompt, and they were on time. The two people that came out to do the work were very nice people, and they did it in a very prompt, timely manner. They pulled carpet and padding up off the floor and put in blowers and dryers to dry the floors and walls. They were done by Wednesday—they came out on Monday morning, and by Wednesday afternoon, they came to pick up all the equipment. I would recommend them, and I'd give them an A grade.”

I had them check a wall, couple of locations in the house for moisture and they, I know they have some kind of a moisture detection thing that they can put up to the wall and see if there's any moisture behind the wall so that's really what they did. I would certainly give them a B. A couple of the areas he wasn’t totally sure of the moisture, but in general I was very happy.”

“They showed up right on time, and they got the mess cleaned up very quickly—very neat. They blocked off the rest of the house from the area where they were doing the demolition. They were good, very quick, and clean. I had a leak in the kitchen, so they just cleaned everything that got wet, and then they put the dehumidifier in to get the moisture out. Then, they did the rest of the house. They were just in and out. The dehumidifiers were around for a week; I wasn't thrilled about that, but that was in order to help get the moisture out. I'd give them an A.”

“They were quick in response to the call when the condo complex called them to come. But we never got a call to see who was going to replace the baseboards back on the walls. Nobody actually let us know like, because the fans were on for like three consecutive days in my house. My energy bill's going to be sky rocketing. So that's an issue, you know, for something I was not planning on. That's the only problem. They did not follow through to let me know so this is going to happen next. We're going to come back or you have to find someone to put the baseboards back. They never came back to say what was going to happen. They did water damage remediation. I'd rate them a B-.”

“The whole time was horrible. They did a fairly good job; I wasn't pleased that they had to rip out my laundry room floor, because I couldn't replace it with the kind I had. My cat was horrible, but that wasn't their fault. They did help me with getting her out; that was not really their job, but they were good about that. The work looks fine today. They did leave my washer and dryer out on the back porch, and in doing that, they managed to put a rip in my porch rug, but it was a $40 rug. Generally, I was happy with their work. My neighbor brought my washer and dryer back and hooked them up for me after I called a plumber. I'd give them an A.”

“First of all, they were here when they said they'd be here. They just would always tell me what they were doing—they’d give me a heads-up. They would call me. They were polite, they were courteous, and they did their job well. They did what they had to do. My water heater tank didn't work, so I was flooded. It was a mess because all the water came out of the whole tank all night. They had to pull up the rugs, they drilled holes into part of the walls, and they had to drain things and then dry it all out. They came, got all their stuff, and packed everything up that was wet and everything that was not wet. I'd give ServiceMaster an A+.”

“They cleaned up the house, ServiceMaster. They ruined some of my furniture with the spray and everything. They didn't cover everything up like they were supposed to, and the spray that they sprayed got on my furniture and it made polka dots all over my furniture. Thank God they didn't get my other expensive piece of furniture, but I was not happy at all. They didn't cover things like they said they were supposed to. They didn't cover furniture. They didn't block airways. They didn't put the air system in. I was very disappointed. I'd probably never use them again. That was the first and last time I used them. I would never use them.”

“What made it a positive experience was the fast action getting in there and getting the work done quickly. I was doing a second floor addition and water got in and ruined the first floor. They had to get it out before the mold started to take so they got all the insulation out, the sheetrock out, they got everything out pretty quickly. It's still under construction today. I'd give them a B. They just put everything in boxes. I still can't find stuff. I think if I'd had some input on what boxes to be careful with. They'd taken stereos and TVs and moving stuff around pretty quick to get in and out of there.”

“That was over a year ago. The type of work they did was water remediation, which would have been they had to use the humidifiers and some fans. Because of the circumstances in the Northeast last winter, many of the water remediation companies that our insurance company put us in touch with lack the equipment to get it to us in a timely fashion. Luckily we had a lot of our own from a construction project we did. We had to do an intervention of our own before they got there, but when they did get there, it was probably the kind of service that they would have done if they could have had access to adequate equipment. I think everybody was looking for the same equipment at the same time. I know there was quite a time lapse from the time we reported the need and the time that we actually got the equipment, but it was no fault of their own because they were in communication with us and they told us the circumstance. I'd have to say their service was as good as it could be under the situation. It was an emergency situation. I'd say it was good because we felt like we did a lot of our own water remediation before the actual professionals could intervene. We had hoped they could come sooner but once they were there I'm sure that was the kind of service they would have given had they had the equipment. I'd have to say it was good under the circumstances. It was out of their control so I don't want to make this look skewed. It's a plus. When they were there it was a plus. We were just disappointed that the water remediation company couldn't assist us earlier after the freezing up of the pipes. It wasn't like—they kept explaining it was no fault of their own. They were getting equipment from Georgia just to help us out. Maybe just give them a plus.”

“Positive was they were very polite. They were very timely. Some of the things that were not so positive was they really didn't take as much care as they should have when they were ripping things out. They damaged some of my items that I was keeping, and they left things kind of in a shambles—some of my molding and trim work in the house. We had storm damage from last winter. We had some roof failure, and the whole back of my house where there were windows had major water damage. So any wall that was touching the back of my house, upstairs and downstairs, had to be ripped out. Part of the ceilings had to be ripped out in eight rooms. Walls had to be ripped out and window trim in eight rooms. My flooring on the whole first floor of my house had to be removed. I'd give them a C.”

“They were quick. They came the same day. They seemed very thorough and seemed to know what they were doing. We had a water leak in the basement—a pipe leak. They came immediately, but then they came back. It took probably a week to get done. I would tell friends to call them. I'll give them an A.”

“They came when they said they would, they were very clean in hauling the stuff away, and they really did a terrific job. They took down some plaster walls and ceilings and some wood floors, and then they put in some big dehumidifiers that ran for a couple weeks. Everything looks perfect today. They get an A+.”

“The guys seemed to be pretty professional. They knew what they were doing. They were pleasant to talk with and courteous, and they seemed to do a good job. There was a broken water pipe, so they had to basically rip out the kitchen ceiling, walls, and floor as well as some in the bathroom—it was a lot of water mitigation. I would say they’re an A.”

“ServiceMaster had very, very kind young men. They did a wonderful job, and they were very protective of our pets. They should be recommended. They did everything, and it looks great. They found more problems than they expected, and they were courteous enough to take care of it with the insurance adjuster. They removed the mold. I’d give them beyond an A+.”

“I think the owner was very accessible. He basically did what he said he was going to do, and every day, he would update us. They're very professional. We had water damage—we had a frozen pipe burst—and so our kitchen, living room, and bathroom were destroyed. It took about ten days for them to clean up. I would definitely recommend them. They earned an A grade.”
