“Technician did not find interior lighting problem & left with interior lights still out & advised we needed a new circuit box because ours was very old; was later provided an email estimate of over $3,700 for a new circuit box. Little time spent troubleshooting; looked at the circuit box & said he had seen this issue often. I called another electrician & they found the problem, a floating neutral or open in a corroded exterior outlet, in less than 30 minutes. Was repaired for under $250.”

“The technicians seem like they're very reliable and competent. They don't try to up sell me by telling me to replace a whole bunch of things I don't need to. I find them trustworthy. I have had some electric work done and also some work with plumbing. The plumbing was a pipe that was broken and the electric work was an installation of a light that was high up in the ceiling. I would say A for both of them. They were both good. I would say the customer service was a joy. They were always on time.”

“Parrish, I use them for everything; electric, heating and air conditioning, and plumbing. I've been using them for three years. They deserve an A+. Electrical is A+++++. Heating and air conditioning, I'll give them an A-. Plumbing, that's the problem. I don't like their plumbing. And I'm assuming they have new employees now, I'm hoping. But the electricians are absolutely fabulous; the best ever. I have a contact with them so I get instant service.”

“They're reliable. We do their annual service so we pay them a contract and they come in and provide Spring and Fall maintenance on all of our electrical, our plumbing and heating system. And so, when we set that up, they're reliable, they always call ahead of time and they are on time. And when we have emergency services like we have plumbing issues or we have a heating issue, they're there immediately. They deserve an A.”

“I would say the plumbing was positive. The electrical— I had poor electricians work on my job. It's kind of a company problem that happened but it made it a lot more stressful than it would've been otherwise. The first electrician was reasonable but the next guy was like, ‘Really?’ I had to re-explain this job again. I mean, electricians don't want to do work they don't understand, bottom line. It made the job a lot more stressful. The plumbing part of it really kind of went off without a hitch. The plumber ran into a couple of different problems but he just kind of adapted and figured it out. As far as the end of the job, everything went fine other than a little bit of miscommunication because we had to change electricians. Everything else was as I expected it to be. If I'm doing plumbing and electrical together, I would probably go B-.”

“They did satisfactory work for me. I thought they were a little on the expensive side, but of course that's my own personal opinion, but the work they did here was satisfactory. They came and installed a couple of plumbing fixtures for me, a hot water heater. The master plumber, he had an assistant with him who was helping him out and he wasn't the best assistant. He kind of installed one of the faucets a little crooked in one of the bathrooms and I had to call back to the guy to address that. That was the only thing on the plumbing side. The electrical side, the guy did really good work. Again, the one thing that probably was —from the customer standpoint— the gentleman who did the electrical work for me, installing some electrics and so forth, was a bit of a salesman, pushing hard, hard line sales on replacing some major electrical box which was a very big expense which, as far as I was concerned, didn't really need to be replaced and when I got a second opinion from someone, they said, 'no you don't need to replace that, there's nothing wrong, you're OK with it.' The gentleman from Parrish tried to say oh it's too old; maybe he's right. Said it was too old, it's over 20 years old and should be replaced, it could be a hazard. But part of that is a sales pitch too to sell an item; it's what, over $2000, $3000 worth in work that I wasn't planning on having done. So, from that stand point, if I were going to rate them, I'd probably give them a B. Overall it would be about a B rating. I'll give them a little bit higher than a C. They were very attentive, the guy was very nice, and both of them were good in coming back to do follow-up work. They're OK. They were very polite and very cordial and very nice. They were very clean guys.”

“They did come here to do an inspection of the heat. They've always been very prompt, efficient, reliable, and professional. They're real good as far as I'm concerned. They did electrical and air conditioning and heat. They come twice a year to check my air conditioning and then my heat. They make sure everything's working and they check the vents. That's all they do. I'd give them an A+. They give me recommendations and I feel like they've done a good job when they're here; they're not in and out real quick. They take their time and I'm very happy with the way they proceed with their job. I would absolutely recommend them; I have.”

“I've used them for electrical and plumbing and generator maintenance, stuff like that. They're pretty proactive about calling to make sure we don't forget anything. Before the summer comes, they make sure your air conditioning is all set to go, not malfunctioning; same thing with the heating system before winter comes. They're pretty on the ball. They installed my whole house electric generator and they do maintenance on that every year. And they do any plumbing or electrical work that needs to be done but very rarely does that need to be done. I'd give them an A+. I would recommend them.”

“They did a very good job. They were all very professional, very courteous and I had a sort of extenuating circumstance in that where my husband at that point was waiting for a heart transplant so time was of the essence. The one guy that came here in particular and for the life of me, he took ownership because we had some problems with the heat pump. It just kept cycling and cycling and cycling. Several different people came out and they changed this board and that board and he finally figured out what the issue was but he told me that if anything else goes wrong, this is my personal cell phone number, you call me and I'll come and take care of it. The whole company was that way. They were very customer-oriented. The generator part was probably only about two days and then putting in the system didn't take that long but like I said, there were some problems and they finally figured out that there was not enough intake or air going into the furnace because we had added a special filter and then the guy who came out also recommended a UV light sterilizer which we did have him put in. It took a little longer but like I said, they were very good. They were very responsive and I would certainly use them again or recommend them to somebody else.”

“I may have looked in a book with preferred people to do various types of jobs. The Fairfax county puts this book out. Parrish was listed and I just gave them a call. I didn't have anyone else in mind. I didn't have any kind of references before that. I talked to them and they seemed to know what they were doing. They got the first one in, they did a great job. We had three different things and we're very happy with all of them. We had a home inspector who came in and she didn't know these things and some of the stuff she came up with was completely off the wall but what can you do under those circumstances and then we had hot water baseboard heat. She didn't understand that kind of stuff but anyways, they did a very good job. We're very pleased with them. I'm just pleased that I didn't have to schedule what they were doing. I asked them a question and the answer they gave me was reasonable. I have an engineering background so a lot of stuff they did, I understood and that made it a lot easier. Circuit breakers and plumbing and air conditioning it would be difficult to explain. They were very straight-forward and did a nice job. I have everything positive. If I had something negative, I would've certainly mentioned that.”

“They were extremely professional. They came in. They did their work. They were social. They weren't so focused on their work that they couldn't be human. They interacted with myself and with my wife very well. We were just very, very happy with the work that they did. I would highly recommend them to anyone. They replaced the air conditioning unit and the furnace at the same time. They came in and it was all done in one day. It was probably about four to six hours, something like that. They pulled the old furnace out, put the new one in. They bent all the sheet metal and put it into the right angles and everything else. They went through everything as far as the operation. The thermostat, the furnace itself, the house cooled down extremely quickly. We were thrilled and our bill has gone down. Our electric bill has gone down substantially. Their follow-up was outstanding too. I forgot the gentleman who came out but I believe he was one of their executive personnel. He came out and did a personal inspection. He gave them a good rating. I would definitely recommend them again to my family members.”

“I use them for everything in my house and I like them. I just have them take care of all my electrical, air conditioning, heating and everything in my house and I've always been satisfied with them. I'm glad to keep them as long as they're doing a good job. Anything that goes wrong in my house, I would at least get a little bit of priority and they're such a huge company and they usually come when I call them within a day. They've always been polite and I have no complaints. I had another company when I bought this house but I had used Parrish at one time. They were affiliated with the homeowner's warranty and that's how I got to know them and I've been satisfied with them so I just stayed with them. I've been with them for 13 years. I don't think there's anything else I need to know about them. All of their employees seem capable and explain everything to me that they might not understand and they put on the little booties when they come in the house so they don't track dirt in my house. I'm 100% satisfied with them.”

“I'm disappointed in them. I thought I was paying for service and I didn't receive the service. It was a monthly fee covering the heating and air conditioning. When they came out for one of the follow ups, just to check on the system, two things happened. Number one, I was told that I needed a device on the furnace, one of the ultra violet light cleaners because mold had gotten on the furnace on the inside. Subsequently, I went ahead and got it. I had no problem with paying with the device. However, after further research I went online and found out that there's been at least one if not two complaints on the Better Business Bureau with the same type tactics. I asked the technician when he was done checking that unit if he would go up and check the upstairs unit and he said, 'No, your service is only for the one unit.' I thought that was strange. If you've got two units in the house why is it only down to one? Based on what they did, I question the credibility of the publication and if it's worthwhile to even bother with those. I'd give them a D. I won't use them again.”

“Parris Services showed up with a very, very impeccable salesman who was very frank and very thorough and with a technical expert named Louise. The intent was to run a gas line down the transom that runs through the middle of my house, from the gas meter on one side to where the generator was going to be put on the other side and then to do some electrical work associated with that generator and the new sub panel. Then they were also going to put in two fireplaces for gas and they were going to replace the sump pump. They came in and said, under the contract, they could do the work with no problems. He tore out chunks of drywall that were five foot by five foot. He said for the fireplaces that they can run the gas line down the side of the fireplace. He came in and told me, “No, you need to tear out the brick on the side of your fireplace.” He then came in and the next day and said, “No, you need to tear out all of the bricks down the whole face of the fireplace.” He had a guy come in with a jackhammer and then tore out the side of the fireplace. He came in for the fireplace upstairs one day and said, “You need to tear out the fake stone on that in this area.” The next day he said, “No we're going to run it on the other side.” Then they cut out one of the support beams for the wall against the fireplace and then drilled three different holes in the fireplace. By that point I told them to just leave it and that I could do it myself, but I paid them full value.”

“There were two separate projects, but it was all electrical work. They fixed a short circuit in my basement, and they repaired a broken circuit to an outside light fixture. They were able to solve both problems, and in both cases, I think they came in a little bit under their estimate, which was good. I was particularly impressed with the short circuit in basement that the technician was determined to find the problem. He had to check a number of different things in order to find it. He located it, and as for the other one, the guy had a suspicion of where the problem was, so he checked it out. It turned out it was there, and in doing that, he was able to save some work and save us some money. I would give them an A-. I do want to mention two other things about them—one, for the second job, I had called made an appointment with one of their service people, but they failed to record it. When the day came, I called when he didn't come, and they said ‘oh we never recorded it,’ so we had to reschedule. The second thing, in both cases the people came at the very end of their time slot, and they're not terribly good at telling me when they were going to be coming, so it's a little bit of an annoyance. The people, when they come, do a good job, but I wouldn't say they're the most punctual.”

“They usually come out and fix the problem, whether it's something we can handle or not, and they explain things to us—they're very prompt and quick about it. It’s not their fault, but the only thing I don't like is that you have to wait for a window of opportunity for them to come out. So, you can't predict when you need to be at the house, especially if you're on a work schedule. Most recently, we've had them do electrical work. Their customer service is very good. We pulled them out of Best Pick Reports, and we've been happy with them ever since. I’d rate them as an A.”

“I contracted mostly everything in my house with them and as usual they came when they said they were going do and they did what they said they were going to and it all went well. I had to have my upstairs air conditioning checked out and he fixed it. Because it was also under warranty there was no charge so he fixed it and it's cooling perfectly now. It was undercharged so they had to top it up with Freon and charge it again. Their customer service has always been very good. They are very nice people. Many years ago I think somebody recommended Parrish to me and I had an emergency, I think emergency plumbing issue and somebody recommended them to me and I've been with them many years now and they cover everything in the house, electric, plumbing, A/C, everything.”

“The guy came but he couldn't tell us anything different than he already knew and basically said it was going to be this huge amount of money per day for them to trace the problem down. So we kind of considered it to be a waste of money. We already knew so we just ended up having to figure it out ourselves. They came and we paid, but the electrician could not tell us anything we didn't already know about the problem. There was a short. An old wire had lost its insulation and shorted out so the whole house was going crazy. The microwave would start humming all of a sudden. The whole house went crazy. Lights would flicker on and then they would flicker off. It was like they had a mind of their own. It was pretty scary actually. We ended up turning breakers off. Sometimes we would turn a breaker off and then another would pop on, really crazy stuff. We could smell something burnt. It was pretty scary. My elderly mother lives with me and she has dementia and we wanted to fix it as soon as possible because nothing was working. We had to unplug everything to keep it from getting damaged and as it was our dryer was damaged, the control board on it fried. The guy came and we expected somebody who would have some good equipment. We expected somebody who might have something that would tell us what circuit the short was on, something. The guy had worse equipment than my husband. My husband had better equipment than he did. He was like, 'Oh, you've got a short.' 'OK, we know that.' We were hoping that an electrician might come and could help us quickly find the source. Then we paid all this money for him to come and I think he was here for an hour or maybe more and he couldn't tell us anything that he didn't already know. He didn't have any equipment that was any more sophisticated than ours or helped us identify where the short was faster. Basically my husband and my son had to just go and drop lights. They started just looking at wiring. They got lucky, but they found some bare wires pretty fast in the ceiling. We could smell it in the kitchen so basically it started in the kitchen. I've only had one experience with them. I'd give them a C.”

“They service my cooling and heating system by visits twice a year and they also do some plumbing work for us. As regards plumbing, for instance, they recently (within 14 months) changed two of my toilet bowls. My experience with them has been positive on the whole, but I do have some negative. On the positive side, they are usually very responsive and try to send someone as soon as needed, except on weekends when I have found them not ready to send someone--at least in my case. For instance, they would not send someone to change my water heater on a weekend in winter and I had to get Sears to do the work. I find the quality of their work good and I am very satisfied with it overall. My negative with them is their lack of adequate transparency in pricing. In particular, they refuse to tell you, in general, what portion of the charge is cost of parts and which is for labor. At least in plumbing, I have recently discovered that they are on the expensive side, even after taking into account the quality of their service. Hence, I am slowly moving away from them in that area. For instance, I changed a third toilet bowl in the last three months and got some other company to do the work.”

“Parrish performed two services. First, they repaired a short circuit in my basement that had prevented lights working there. Second, they repaired the electrical connection to my outdoor light post, which had worn away. The staff were successful in completing both repairs. My one negative involved punctuality. In both cases the service personnel arrived very late, and in one case Parrish had failed to record the service date on its schedule and had to reschedule the appointment as a result.”
