“Sundeck subcontracted out work to a crew that didn't read deck build chart / contract. Didn't prep & pour properly mixed concrete for new footers. Crew dug holes, got them 'inspected' for depth, then immediately put in supporting posts into footer holes, and dumped in clay/concrete mix into holes w/o gravel drainage, w/o waiting. This is STRUCTURALLY DEFICIENT. I complained about this, and the crew called their subcontractor boss, who claimed he doesn't know anything (lying) and passed off all responsibility to Sundeck. Crew did not remove all the clay/concrete material from problem footer hole. Another footer hole had badly mixed watery concrete made out of only ONE bag that did not set. Sundeck general manager came out next day with more concrete bags to 'fix' the issue. Not really fixable when the clay/concrete mix filled up 1/4 - 1/3 of the footer hole, and crew didn't remove it all. Sundeck estimator/designer lied repeatedly on phone, saying "It's not my problem" on this concrete footer problem and possible structural deficiency. Essentially, they wouldn't take responsibility, and tried to pass it off as 'ok'. And when they couldn't wiggle out of the issue, they added just 1 year to their 1 year warranty, just for these footers, in case they sink. Also, the crew didn't properly torque down the bolts holding the railings and tie brackets. I had to do that myself. They also didn't properly level the wood supporting the joists. They cut notches to get them 'level' to put on the support posts. The joist hangers are not snug to the joists, there are gaps. Not reassuring. A good wood deck should last 25-30 years. Will this deck last that long? Don't hire Sundeck. Bad, demeaning communication. Bad construction. Lies.”

Sundecks had a much better price while the other deck builder started with a very high price, then they dropped their price (but still was high) when we didn't sign a contract, and then the other builder's office staff called several times after we did not sign. Sundecks provided a much better price for the same product (Trex) and the final workmanship and quality is excellent. I would recommend Sundecks.”

We have been enjoying our new space for the last year with no complaints! I do think it helped that we were 'work-at-home' to help manage the project when questions came up. We had an amazing experience with the building team (Ricardo & Israel). I would suggest you keep an eye on the subcontractors (electric) we had many different people and confusion with instructions. Overall I highly recommend the Sun Decks Team! Amazing work, on time, and true quoted budget!”

“We were very pleased with the quality of the work performed. We started with 4 bathrooms then had them back out within the year to totally renovate our kitchen and breakfast area. Everything was communicated well and they are very professional and leave the job site immaculate each day! They really take care to try and not disrupt you as much as possible. Dust management is better than expected, given the scope of the work. Harrison’s attention to detail is very much appreciated. I highly recommend Post Designers and Builders!!”

Ronnie is a master carpenter and does excellent work. His brother Pablo was his excellent assistant. They had another worker who cleaned and took away the old decking. making sure the area was cleaned..”
