“They just did a very screened in porch in a quick amount of time. The speed in which it was completed was pretty good. It was basically a deck and screened in porch. The only issue I had was that we had some screened in doors that were not what they built. It was just an off-brand product and I was having a lot of issues with those. It took a while to get that fixed. I'd give them an A- overall. Some of the accessories were good with a few issues. The doors were kind of an issue. It took a while to get them changed out. The actual screened in porch was really, really good. They were very punctual for that. The actual building of the deck was awesome. Their cleanliness was good.”
“They put in two new posts. They put in my balcony about eight years ago I guess. The posts got rotten at the bottom in the dirt, so they replaced the two. I call them posts. They did that during the winter because they said it was slow at that time, and I just had them painted. They're fine. They said my balcony was in good condition. I didn't need to replace it or anything. We had painted it, but they did put in new posts. They were rotting at the bottom because of the dirt and the water that surrounded it. They did excellent work with no problems for me. If I had to do it over again, I would hire nobody but Sundecks.”

I consulted other deck installers who didn't happen to have the specific materials I was looking for and the style, but they did. That was nice. They did the deck and ran the permits, and they did the interface with the city of Alexandria, which I certainly appreciated. I'd give them an A.”

“The final product I was happy with. The front office was great, like the people I talked to in the office and the guy who set up the plan and everything, but I didn't like the crew that was on site. They were reasonable enough, but they were kind of sloppy. They used my hose and they left it in the mud pit. They left the tools all over the yard. I told them, ‘Hey, I got a sprinkler system. You should try to avoid it.’ He said, ‘Well, I can dig wherever there's not a line from the electrical company.’ I go, ‘I know, but you should be careful where you're doing because there's a sprinkler system right there.’ On the very first day, they hit the sprinkler system. They said they fixed it, but I had the sprinkler company out and fix it. They helped reimburse me for that, but it was sort of painful to process. It's not like it could have just been handed off. I don't want to stir the pot, but it’s tough for me to endorse them. The process was painful once the crew arrived. The foreman was kind of a crook. He didn't have good skills and the crew couldn't speak English, but the guy who designed with me, we went through. We talked about things. He did several reiterations. He was a good communicator about what was going on and building everything, so that was really great. I'd give them a B-.”
“It was generally positive. They did decent enough work at a decent price. Doesn't mean I don't have any complaints about them though. They built a deck. I'd give them a B-. In the customer service realm, they need better communication. In general, better communication between the office and the workers and then the office and the customer. The salesman I used had a habit of blaming me when something went wrong. Consequently, I haven't used them even though I have other projects to do. The salesman was David.”
“In the end, they made it right, but they miss-built the deck. They had to take it apart and put it back together. We had to point out deficiencies that were, in our minds, clearly improper. It delayed the process. At the end of the day, we didn't have to go to court. We didn't have to threaten not to pay. They rebuilt the deck and made it right. It was a little bit drawn out and frustrating, but in the end we're satisfied with the product we received. They only built the deck. I'd give them a B-.”

“Basically, the fact that the project manager wouldn't always communicate. The project manager wasn't always on the jobsite. More importantly, the fact that people that were building the deck weren't necessarily aware of certain type of code violations. The people who were building the deck had told me about that. They might have had some problems. I'm not saying necessarily it's the project manager's fault, but perhaps those who were on the job building the deck should have been a little more knowledgeable about what I wanted done. They were not necessarily up to the code standards, and they did not communicate that. I almost had an issue with the deck not passing inspections because of that. They were building a deck for me. I'd give them a straight C.”
“Sundecks was very good, very professional. They built a pressure treated deck for us with a tract cap on the top. The aluminum rails are in-between instead of wood. The fact that their salesperson, Rick Ward, actually came out twice to work on the design with us. He laid everything out, and helped us come up with better ideas than we would have done ourselves. They were just very responsive. The team of guys that came to build it were very considerate and respectful of the property. They didn't leave trash around. The company, overall, was extremely respectful of our property and making sure that everything was done properly. I would give them an A. I've already recommended them.”
“It was very positive. We had them tear out the old deck and put in a replacement deck that was larger. They were easy to work with. The folks that actually did the work were very responsive. You could interact with them easily. I had good choices on trying to get to the price point, where we wanted it to be for what we paid for. They essentially came out to start the job, when I wasn't quite ready. We didn't agree to a date and they just showed up one day. On the paperwork, they didn't document my phone number correctly. So, they were calling somebody else and leaving messages for somebody else. They just showed up without any confirmation anyway, even without hearing back from that particular person. Aside from that little thing, it was a positive situation. Everything else was good. I'd say they were an A.”
“I wouldn’t give them a 1 because there was some disconnect between the salesman and the guy that drew up the plans. There was a confusion. He quoted me for just the flooring, and when they came up here, if I hadn’t been home, the crew would have torn off the railing. They delivered the wood for the railing. Then, when I said that wasn’t what was quoted, he said it was. There was some miscommunication. I don’t know if he had too many contracts going or what. For my experience with the crew, I give the overall grade an A+, but for the salesman it would be a B-.”
