And there were a couple of changes I needed to make on the house and he accommodated me, so I think it was pretty positive on his part. What they did when they came by was the semi-annual check on my systems. They did my summer system, and I'm waiting on them to do my winter system. But when they came to do the summer system, I needed to make sure the airflow throughout the house was even because I didn't realize that the thermostat wasn't set correctly, and they explained how that worked and showed me what to do. I've had three HVAC systems replaced in the last 12 years, three different houses, and they did the maintenance on all of them, at this point. The number of workers that come out depends. For the annual check, it's usually just one; sometimes he will bring an apprentice with him to kind of show them the ropes. For installations, they've got anywhere from three to five, depending upon what they have to move around. At this point, it's just maintenance. Haven't had any repairs yet on either of the systems. “SSI themselves are always very, very good. The ones that I didn't like were the ones that cleaned the vent, because they didn't leave the place clean, and I had to go around and pick up. They have done A/C and heating work for me. I would grade the overall experience with an A. Cleanliness—SSI is fine, but the people they hire—the subcontractors, they were not.”

We had to replace our furnace, so they came in and gave us a quote on a new gas furnace, and we decided to replace the air conditioning compressor at the time. And they were very good in explaining. They gave us advice and talked to us about our options, explained what was good for us. They came out and replaced the unit, and then they called us to make sure everything was working properly. We have used them for routine maintenance, as well as isolated jobs. I would grade the overall experience with an A. Quality of work—they do great work. Actually, the plumber was out today to do an emergency fix, and he was prompt, he was polite, he's articulate and he knows what he's doing. He offers alternatives. As a woman, he explains things to me in a way that is not condescending, which I always appreciate.”

Specifically, the plumbing work, basically, they do inspections, they replaced my trash compactor and the dishwasher; minor repairs when the toilets were backed up. I think they replaced one toilet. Punctuality—once or twice, they were late, but usually, they are pretty good. Expertise—there was one guy that didn't exactly know what he was doing. Everybody else was good.”
