“I went with Solar Energy World because Fairfax county connected me with them. I did not shop around. In short the first person I worked with wasn't very helpful and flexible so I complaint to their management. They sent another person and he was flexible and helpful, I appreciate that. The installation started after about 2-3 months and I was already told about that time frame. The installation process did not go as smoothly as I expected. 1. I was told that it will be installed in 2-3 days but it took about a week. 2. They damage some part of the roof, ceiling in my bedroom and wall in the basement. They reported only the roof damage and ceiling damage and took care of them. It is good that they took care of them and got them fixed, but it was a hassle. They didn't report a small damage/hole in the wall in the basement and luckily I found it while they were still there working, so they had it fixed as well. 3. I was told that once everything is approve and the electric company installs the new meter, the electric company will switch the system on. But when the new meter was installed I asked the person and he said he is not supposed to turn it on. Later on I received an email from Solar Energy World that I need to turn the system on. It's ok but created confusion. I have 15.9kWh system, the max I have been able to generate at any given time is like 10kWh. Also, I think they could have installed a few more panels on my room because it has more room that gets plenty of sunshine (I wanted to maximize the panels) but they did not agree with me. I still see those empty areas on the room that are getting plenty of sunshine and wished they listened to me. Whether I would recommend them to anyone, I am not sure.”

“Couldn’t be more pleased with our decision to go solar with Solar Energy World. We looked at a number of vendors, but Eric’s knowledge and responsiveness sold us. We’ve had 3 months of fully covering our usage with our system, including December. Solar Energy World also handled all the paperwork for getting us tied to the SREC marketplace and for reducing our property tax for the next 10 years. Highly recommend!”

“We worked closely with Pete Barnes from Solar Energy World. He was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Solar and it’s nuances. It is a lot of engineering and design that goes in to estimate the right solution for your home and he took his time to explain everything as well as work with us within the parameters we had for aesthetics and expected yield. The installed system is delivering that and some more of what he designed the system for. Past the installation he hand held us through a myriad of forms and applications to get the desired solar credits, county tax breaks and federal subsidies. Him and the whole staff at energy Solar works including installers and administrative staff was just amazing to work with. Not to mention the extended warranties and guaranties the company offers - provide us the needed confidence in the investment we have made.”

“After installation my system was not working. I made several attempts to get service to get it corrected. I basically had to troubleshoot via email and phone to try to find the problem. I found switches that were in the off position and turned them on 3 1/2 months after installation.”

“They did really good explaing how it works. They did all the paperwork and everything, I didn't have to be worried about anything, and that's really a plus. I found out I bought the equipment through their loan people, they had good interest, but the way it affected my credit power it was like I have a personal loan of 50,000. It shows it's a loan, causing my interest on everything else to not be good. They should show something and give more information that shows you are paying for solar panels, so you don't have a utility bill.”

“Price through Solar Coop Arlington was great, and their "step by step" on install itself was great. After actual panel install, however, not so smooth. I had to call in to find out why no computer app (to read electricity generated), and was told "oh, we have to schedule inspection with Arlington county. So I asked them to schedule, and then asked them again, when would install actually be up and running. Then they said "Dominion VA Power" had to check meter, etc. Obviously, SEW doesn't control Arlington County or the electric company, but it would have been helpful to know these steps were coming, to have had them happen without my phone follow up -- and to have better guidelines on timelines. I've now had to e-mail several times to make sure I haven't been forgotten, and I'm still waiting to actually use my system. IF the install Crew Leader had just left me with a paper saying : 1) "you need to call to schedule Arlington County inspection, you'll get an e-mail confirming ok" and then 2) SEW will contract "your electric company which will review the meter and bring this all on-line, again, sending you a confirmation e-mail that all is ok and "3) "you'll get an e-mail alerting you to the computer app to review your electricity output". Each stop could take (a week or two?!?), and then you'll be up and running.”
