“The salesperson we had was excellent; the folks working on the job were outstanding. My wife had a lot of questions, and they always answered her. I had a little delay in the project manager getting back to me, but I would definitely recommend you to family and friends. I had a lot of follow up question and left messages with the project manager, and he took quite a bit of time to get back to me.”

“My experience was very negative. They sold me this bootleg product with 100% markup on it. My roof is still leaking. I was told if I had the gutters installed I wouldn't have any more problems. I had to have another company come out, and I have $8,000 tied into this awful product.”

“They sided my house for me. I would give them an A. They did the house quickly. It looks lovely. My house was a mess, and they did an insulation. They cleaned up well. I signed up with them at BJ’s, and I talked to someone there. They came out and looked at the house. The people that came and talked with me were really lovely. If someone asked me, I would recommend them. I'm happy with the work, and I have been unhappy with other work.”

“They did a really good job. They had people that couldn't speak English, though. So I couldn't even communicate with them when I thought there was a problem or when there was something that wasn't going right. I had to go back to some other people in the company to get things clarified at times. The end result was good. The price was double what it should've cost, but it's supposed to be a 5-year warranty on materials and labor. So that makes it a little better. They put on siding on the front of the house, siding on the side house, the thermal siding. They also replaced three windows. They also gave me a heavy sales pitch. I told them I didn't like that, but they kept doing it. I'm a sucker for somebody that gives me all of this stuff sometimes. I'm trying to get better at it because people can talk me into a lot of different things. The other thing was they gave me an estimate and then when it came time to sign off on the paperwork, it was almost $5 more. I was kind of pissed off about that. Actually, it was a couple dollars more. I said, 'Wait, this isn't what I was estimated.' 'Oh, they didn't do this, this, and this.' That shouldn't be my problem. They're really quick talkers. They give you a snow job of a sale. The end result is decent, but I talked to a contractor and I paid about double what I should've paid for the job. So I wouldn't touch them with a ten-foot pole at this point.”

“It was okay. It's very expensive, but it's okay. We had a heat pump in our house when they came here. They checked it and still did not make sure they got it put back before they left. They charged me all of that money. I had to pay somebody else to get the heat pump back up. I'm very disappointed about that part. The experience is in-between, in the middle. I'm very disappointed. It was a heat pump. It was hot in the winter and cool in the summer. They'll take care of it no problem. They had a paper. I had to pay somebody else to put it back. I'm very disappointed about this part of the job. They should make sure my heat pump was working. They charged me almost $1,. I would give them a C. It was working before they came here and they took the job. They should be sure something is done one hundred percent. When the guy comes, I'll check. He didn't tell me it was $6 to add the Freon. You need Freon after they messed with it.”

“There were a couple things I went over with them before they started the job, and they were supposed to put my gutter guards back in, and they didn't do that. Some of them they put on and some of them they didn't. There were a lot of nails left all over my yard and back deck. Some of the shingles and plastic were left all over the yard also, so the cleanup was a mess. They did a roof for me. As far as the roof goes, it looks great. But as far as what they were supposed to do after that, it wasn't. I called them. I must have called them at least six or seven times, and I had to talk to a supervisor for someone to finally come out there because there was nobody around my area to come out to clean that up. I’ve got two young kids, and they were the ones picking the nails up from the deck and giving them to me. I'll say C because there were a couple other things they were supposed to come back and look at that they didn't really finish. After they did the roofing up top, they were supposed to cover it instead of replace the boards. They didn't seal it properly.”

“It wasn't perfect, but it was pretty good. There was good and bad. I thought their marketing and their initial presentation was excellent. It taught me a lot about roofs and what to look for in a quality roof and I found it to be very educational and convincing. So I have rave reviews for their presentation and their information. I thought they did a lot to double check what I wanted ahead of time. I received numerous phone calls to make sure that I had selected my materials and was I satisfied. There was a lot of assurances. And then my only issue, I like the way the roof looks now, however I did feel like a few things could have been better during the actual installation including picking up nails. I had numerous nails to clean up afterward where the vehicles are. The other thing was and I probably could have called them back about this but there was a vent on the roof that I said I wanted to not use anymore. I wanted it to be covered with shingles but that didn't happen. They just did it as is, as the existing way so I still see the vents popping up and I really wanted just a sleek flat roof. That was something that I can live with but it was something that had been specified at times as expecting to be taken away. And I guess the third thing is just that during the set up of ladders my aluminum siding on my house got scratched and I asked somebody if they could go over it with white paint before they left and the paint doesn't match the color of the house, so now instead of scratches I have these paint blotches, so not perfect exactly. That's my honest two cents. I heard of them because they were canvasing our neighborhood and they knocked on my door and again, the presentation from the outset in terms of engaging me in conversation, I knew I needed a roof so it was good timing. It was a really convenient time for somebody to show up and talk to me about it so that was really good and then I have to say despite my concerns about the actual job they did say over and over again, if you're not satisfied call us, and if you're not satisfied we'll come back and I just haven't really picked up the phone to ask for changes or anything. I'm kind of like what's done is done with the siding. I picked up the nails to the extent that I've been able to find them. I'm literally still finding them. I found three yesterday and the vent thing, I think I'll just live with. I would say a B because actually I think the roof is great. I think I have a really quality roof so that was my main goal and that's what I got.”

“I mainly liked the lifetime warranty on the work, and they do quality work. They're expensive, but they do it right, and they give you good warranties. They did windows. They also replaced my front door and sided the whole house, except the front. I'd give them an A-.”

02/26/2016

“It was fine with the windows. I was about to do it, and they came in at the right time. The salespeople and the people who do the work are not on the same page. I explained to the salesperson, because I'm a contractor myself, 'You're not going to be able to do what you're saying on this house.' He assumed it was a vinyl house, but it's a clapboard exterior. You have to cut around and put the trim back in to cover your new windows. The first day they came in, they said there was going to be an extra, and they said it was cost for the trim and the extra work. The issue is that the people that come out, they should have a little more knowledge, especially when someone tells them point blank. Then, a crew comes out, and you get a call in your office saying, 'It's going to be extra because we didn't know this and that.' You've been here four times. How could you not know what the job is? That part bothered me a little bit. The other part is that the guys did a great job, but they really need to improve on cleaning up when they remove trim or shades out of the houses or they cut or whatever they do. All that crap was mostly left on the floor. It wasn't vacuumed very well. That was the only thing. Other than that, they did a good job, and they backed their work because they knew they were wrong. That's a lesson they should learn. One of the biggest things they missed on is they didn't explain the fact that the windows they were going to put in—and this is a big issue actually. I allowed them to get away with it because you put shades up and you cover it. But when you put your windows in, you don't explain to the people that your windows—let's say it's a 27-inch by 25-inch window—that they lose an inch and a half all around because it comes in to fit inside the frame inside the walls. That's why they say they don't touch anything, but they actually do. To me, it didn't bother me, but let's say somebody has a big window they leave open in the house, and it catches the eye. An inch and a half inside the whole frame is a lot. If I did their job, I'd have to fill in the inside of the window trim so it looked like a natural-fit window. It looked fine—it looked great—but that's something the customer should know. I pointed out that after the window's up, there's an inch and a half of glass that's going to be missing. I said, 'Your salesman never mentioned that.' It's not going to be an issue at this point, but that's something they should be up front with the customer. Other than that, it was a good experience. They did a good job. I was satisfied. Everything's good. I'd just give them an A- because the stuff that were issues were minor. They wouldn't be issues if they were explained up front, especially when they're talking to the customer explaining everything. 'This is what the windows are going to look like. This is the glass size. This is the whole cost of the job.' Like I said, the first day they gave me a cost. 'Listen, it's not going to work that way,' I said. If I wasn't home, if my wife was home, she would have said, 'OK, it's extra.' I said to them, 'I talked to you guys four times, not once, and I pointed this issue from day one to now, and the first thing you do is come here and tell me from your office that there's an issue with the trim.' I said, 'OK.' The point is, if that was going to be an issue between us, I was not going to have them do the work. It came from the company, too. You expect that when you're selling the product, you don't expect the guy to say, 'I didn't know this was there, and this is extra.' I do construction work, and I never go for extras unless it's a legitimate extra that's going to cost me out of my pocket. If it's not going to cost me out of my pocket and I just have to move something, I'll just do the job. There's so much competition out there that if you're going to start bickering about a couple hundred bucks, you might as well not be in business. It's crazy.”

“I thought they were great. They were a little overpriced, but I guess you get what you pay for. I paid a lot of money, but the guys were on time. They did a good job. They did it in a timely fashion. I've had two different jobs with them so far, and I'll hire them again. We did windows, gutters, soffit, and fascia work. I'm probably going to have my roof done with them in the spring. When they first came, they were pretty high pressure with their sales, but what really got me to choose them was when they showed me that other people in the area had used them and had a positive outcome. So, I wasn't the only person in the neighborhood, so it made me feel like I could trust them because my neighbors had used them. I would go with an A grade for them.”

“Everything was timely. They did what they said they were going to do, and they did it on time. They cleaned up everything. The first project they did was some windows. They were in and out in the same day, in less than half a day probably, and then they did the siding and some more windows. The whole house was done in a week, basically—like seven days. They kind of promised they were pretty good. They seemed pretty reliable. I did the job for the insulation factor—so I was adding the siding to add insulation to the house, but I chose them based on a combination of price and product quality. I'd give them an A.”

I think the gentleman that came out from Powers was great and very thorough in explaining things and all of that. I think the company is great. “They did the roof for me. They've done three for four windows, gutters, and they might have to patch up a little bit of siding where the windows are coming up but that's about it. Power knocked on our door a few times and we needed our roof done. Eventually they came over and we decided that we needed it bad so we listened to their speech on that and everything on how they go about doing the job. It caught us. We liked it. We liked the idea of how they went about doing it. So we went along with it. I'd give them an A+.”

“It was both positive and negative. The positive part was they measured everything correctly and the installation went beautifully. I really like the windows. The negative part was they took out a credit card in my name and charged the $6000 and change to that credit card. What it ended up doing was dropping my FICO scores by 50 points across the board. Fortunately they were very high so it's still high but I hadn't asked for that. I've been meaning to get around to call them and complain about that. That was the negative. They took out credit on me, which I may have checked off on in all the check boxes, but I told them specifically, a minimum of three times, that I did not want to use a home improvement credit card. I would pay it off using my own credit card in January. Everyone at the table nodded their head up and down, and they went ahead and did it anyway. They put in some three-pane picture windows. A picture window with a casement window on either side. I'd give them an A for the work that was done, but I'd have to make it a B for the unintended consequence of the damage they did to my FICO score.”

“Right now we're not so happy because the vinyl on one side of my house has some solar distortion from a neighbor's window. I think I'm trying to interface with my neighbor now, who I finally got to agree to put in some shades, but I think really that process has been a little painful. People really weren't following up with me. I was hoping there was some other remedy. Thankfully my neighbor is going to go along, so I have to call Power back, but really there wasn't a lot of follow-through on that end of the process. The three sides of the house and the process of the installation, the crew that was out here, was great. It's just been—signing off on the job when it was already—that was already occurring as the crew was still here finishing up the installation. I trusted with the warranty that would all be taken care of. The sales guy even pointed out the house next door and some of their distortion when he was selling us the job. He basically told us that wouldn't happen with their product, and it did. I'm hoping the screen will take care of it, and I'm relying on the fact that we'll get somebody out here to fix that side of the house, and hopefully that will end the problem. That experience was not so good. That's the biggest issue, but apart from that, the installation was done professionally. The crew that was here was great. It's just now dealing with that part of it. They did siding and a couple of windows for me. The window installation went pretty smoothly. Right now, with the unresolved issue, I'd give them a C.”

“The supervisor who came during the jobs always had a positive attitude and always knew what was going on and made any necessary correction. The workers did their job and got right to it early in the morning. They put in a full day, and if I had any questions, they were glad to answer them if possible. One of them didn't speak English. They totally stripped the house of the exterior shingles and replaced it with a new style of shingles—the ones that are thick and a gray color. Then on the firehouse, from the ground up to the windows, they put in imitation stone vinyl siding. Then he replaced the windows with no new seals or anything and just dressed it up and put the lights up there. I'd give them an A. There is one thing I wish that they would do. I asked one of the big bosses if they think that the IRS would give us a reduction for the upgrades, and he said, ‘Better check with your accountant because they change rules and regulations.’ I spent $21,000, and I thought I could get a little bit back if I found out.”

“Whenever there were issues, they made sure that they were addressed. They did our siding and they did a roofing, two different projects. We had a couple things on the house that I was worried about. We had rot on the house. Originally when they came out, whoever was putting up the siding had put it up over one of the spots I had concerns about. I told the foreman, and he had them take it down the next day and redo that whole side and put up new plywood and stuff. He was quick to respond to any issues I saw. I'd recommend them to friends and neighbors. I'd give them a B. It seemed like there was a little bit of a disconnect between the communication between Power the home group versus some of the stuff that happened on the worksite.”

“I would say it was positive and negative. We're starting to get some issues because when they came to put the siding on we found some—Power Homes—that we have cracked walls so they're trying to figure that out. I sent them photos but I was going to call tomorrow to see if they've received them and see what they're going to do about it. We had some flaws with the gutters but I don't know if they're coming Thursday to fix them too. It's just trying to figure out what they're going to do with my cracked walls because they're very visible so I don't want to leave them like that. I'd tell friends overall they were good. When they were working they did pretty well. The only concern I have is the inside of my home. I told them when I had that gutter problem they were going to send someone right away. I'd give them a B.”

“They have done roofing a long time ago. There's more dislike than like in the experience that I had with them. The marketing people out there who make the offer are not the ones who come and work with you. Then when they send people to do the job, you cannot communicate with them. There's nobody around to talk to. Then whatever they tell you about the product they're selling, and then they come to do the job, it's not the product they use. I did not have a very good experience. They did the roof for me, and I wasn't pleased with it because it was after I had it done I had water dripping on my garage, and nobody was able to come to do an inspection until maybe two or three weeks later. Then they had the siding done for me. Whatever the marketing person told me was going to be done, that's not what was done when the guy came to do the job. You cannot communicate with who's doing the job because they don't speak English. I was not pleased. I will not recommend them to anyone else in my family. They probably would be able to do a good job if they have people you can communicate with or the marketing people do not lie. There should be coordination between whoever's selling the product with the customer, and then people don't lie to you. They're not always lying, but that is the extent—if you're trying to have a job done for $27,000 to $30,000, people shouldn't be lying to you, giving you wrong information. If you're selling something for hundreds of dollars, whatever, but something that's going to cost me $30,000 and you end up lying to me, that's not acceptable. Is the product going to last the length of time you told me it's going to last? Then when you have it insured by this company, I think, if something happens, am I going to be able to get in touch with somebody to help me? That's what's going through my mind right now. Job-wise they might be able to do a good job, but it's the product, the selling, the marketer; it's more like they have to set up coordination for the marketers and the customers. The guys that are doing the job might be able to do a good job, but in the field they should have someone to communicate in their language. Then you try to call their boss and there's nobody to call. They have to put people on the premises to communicate with your customers. Marketers should not be lying to customers. They should be telling people how it is. With the roofing it was simple, but with the siding, it was not. It doesn't work with the siding. It's already done, but I will not recommend it, or if I have to, I will have more questions and I will not be an easy customer. I'll give them a C.”

“I would put it this way: the quality of the work, until the very very end and until this very day was excellent except for one thing. In the front of the house, where they put the fascia board on, the fascia board was probably an inch too narrow. They put a half-round up there to cover up that space. It covered it, but there was nothing to nail it to, so the weather has taken it and brought it back down. They've already been there to replace it once. My wife was supposed to call the gutter man that came and I don't believe she did because it's still that way. I know that it's not fixed. That's the only complaint. The roof is fantastic. They did a good job. We just had a big nine-inch snowfall. It's been no problem whatsoever. But that gutter was loose. The water was running down behind it, and they came and fixed that. I didn't notice any leaks but my wife and daughter saw it coming from behind that same gutter again. It's also that piece of wood that's hanging down. I don't know how they're going to fix it. It seems like they should take the gutter down, take the fascia board off, get a fascia board an inch and a half wider than what they've got, put the new fascia board up, and put the gutter back. I would be ecstatic. I'm pleased with what the roofing people did, but that gutter is just a problem. The rest of the house is fine. It's two stories in the middle. They did the second-story gutters up there. It's fine. On the extension where my wife and I live, that's fine. I'm absolutely satisfied with everything except for that one problem. I'd like to see it get fixed and fixed right. If a neighbor asked me about them, I would tell them the roofing job itself is fine. It's perfect. They did an excellent job. They put the ridge vent in. They put the breathers in along the edge. It's a fantastic job. I'm very pleased with it and I would tell people that. But if the same people came to put the gutters on, I would be concerned. They probably wouldn't have a problem, and I would tell them that, because this is an odd situation. Why that fascia board is different from the others, I do not know. When we bought the house I guess that's the way it was. Or they had a wider fascia board and the guy who did the gutters didn't notice that when they took it off so they didn't put the right size back on. I'm happy. I think the good part of it is when I called the last time the gutter people came and right away they took care of it.”

“They were here on time. They did what they needed to do. They did everything they were supposed to do. There's a couple little issues but nothing major so I think all in all it was good. They did some roofing. They replaced our roof, and they did everything that we expected they were going to do. So far we haven't had any issues with it. We had them do something else. We've had several things done in the home. They came and maybe wrapped a couple of doors. Maybe they did that at the same time, but they did a good job anyway. I'd recommend them. I'd give them a B. I think there was an issue with some marks on the front siding that we had on the house. One of them actually got chipped and if I believe correctly they dropped an instrument on our A/C unit, and then our A/C wasn't working. We kind of put it off until the summer because now it's going to need a new something inside of it. Evidently they didn't tell my husband when they were going to cover the A/C unit when it was on. They should have let us know so we could have shut it off. We don't know if it was an instrument they dropped or because the A/C unit was covered but we did have somebody come and look at the A/C. One of the things inside has to be replaced.”

“We're very happy; we like our vinyl siding. They showed up on time, and they were friendly. We had to have them back to fix something, and they came back right away. We chose them because of the guarantee. The guarantee is for life—as long as we live in and own this home, they will come back and fix anything that goes wrong. If we decide to sell, we have one transfer. I'd give them an A.”

“They were efficient. Whenever we had any questions or concerns, they were really quick to respond. The one thing that both my husband and I did agree on was that we liked that no payment was received unless we were 100 percent satisfied. They put a fascia board and gutters all around the house, and they wrapped four windows—that was it. They wrapped four windows with siding.”

“Power Home was very good. They were attentive, explained things well, and gave me a chance to ask questions. Most recently, they did siding work. I was amazed at the guys who did the job; they were great, and they cleaned up everything. It’s a Victorian house with a lot of angles and trim work, and I was amazed at what a beautiful job they did. They earned an A.”

“I liked that they were super friendly. They stayed with me for a very long time while I went through all the different options of whether I wanted to do it or not. They explained everything. Even when I asked them things because I wasn't sure, they still answered my questions. Once they started the work, it was really, really fast, and it got done a lot faster than they said it was going to be done. They did some siding. They took down all of the siding and redid it because the old stuff was awful. I would recommend them to friends. They cut my Internet cord wire, and I need to have that redone. They didn't do it on purpose. It was just all of a sudden I was using the Internet, and then I wasn't. I'd give them an A.”

“They did some of the siding and some things on the roof. There's a small thing where the water's still dripping from the roof. They're going to come back this week to fix it. But other than that, generally speaking, the service and the product seem very good. I'd say a B. The problem with the roof is what keeps them from an A. There was a small little delay on when they got started, but other than that it was all good.”

“They did a new roof and gutters. They came to the door. There was a salesman who came to the door. They were so professional from the man who was at the door, the young man, to every single time we called, every single time they came here. They checked up on things. As a matter of fact, they're coming back next week to repair something that the wind knocked one of the pieces of siding off and they're coming to fix that. Everything was done very professionally. They were expensive but well worth it. I would give them an A+.”

“Well, they did the roof, soffits. There was three or four different things they did and cleaned up. A gentleman came a week or two ago and talked with me but I'm not going to do anymore right at this time. Every single person I've ever talked to, I can't say enough nice things about all these gentlemen. Everyone I've talked to has been just absolutely thorough, wonderful, polite, tried to help me. I don't know what else to say. Quite a few years back a young man came to the door and we didn't do anything then and a few years down the road this young man came to the door and introduced himself and so forth and I just took it from there. I'd give them an A, the highest, A+. Everybody was just awesome. No complaints whatsoever.”

“I'd say it's 50/50 at this point. They did siding. We checked several companies at the time. A lot of the follow-through and the finishing of the project made it 50/50. They are saying they're going to finish it up, so we may be feeling different later. But right now, that's where we're at. I'd give them a C-.”

They were excellent, and I had no problems at all. They did windows and siding. A friend of ours had had some work done and recommended them. They get an A grade from me.”

“They were straightforward, the prices were reasonable, and when there was something that I didn't like, even after I paid for it, they came back and took care of it. They did all of the windows, gutters, and a total revamp of vinyl siding. I was in the market. I desperately needed vinyl siding, and that's it. I'm going to give them just an A grade because they did run into a couple of things where they accidentally cut the cable line and my railings. They were bad. One broke because it was rotten, so I said, ‘Listen, it was a bad railing, so would you split the cost?’ But I still haven't gotten prices yet. So far, to me it's great. I believe they are a good company. They gave me a lifetime warranty as long as I own the house, and I can transfer this warranty to whomever I sell the house to. They've been around a while, and they're branching out all over the place. The prices were reasonable and very fair. The vinyl siding was something I'd never seen before. It's vinyl, and it has insulation built right onto it, which is very interesting. The owner of the place was very good. I own a big house—it was affordable for me, and I'm retired.”

“Well, first of all, they told me that it was going to be done in four to five days, and it was more like four weeks to complete the job. The crew that they sent, I was told that they were going to be picking up after themselves every night, and that didn't happen. I mean, the job came out nice. Don't get me wrong. I liked the way it came out. But after the crew got through, they had to send a guy in to finish and redo the molding around the windows and recaulk it because when he caulked it, it rained that night and the caulking went all over the siding and windows and everything. They were putting on siding for me. Someone came to the door is how I found out about them. The product itself seems like a very nice product. I mean, I've got no complaints against the product itself or the way it ended up coming out, but having it put in—first of all, they said it was going to be done in August, and they called me the day before they were supposed to start and cancelled it until November. And then I kept calling them, and they finally called and said they could do it in October, and that's when they did it. Like I said, they told me it'd take four to five days, and I believe it took four weeks to get it completed. I'd give them a D.”

“They're an excellent company. They do a very good job. We have a new roof and a new attic. We had siding put on, as well as new doors and new windows, and we're very happy with what they did. It improved the whole value of our place; plus, you really get a good fix-up for the winter. So, we've already noticed big savings on things like energy, heat, and electric. Plus, they guarantee. If anything goes wrong, they fix it. You don't have to worry. All you do is make a phone call. They come out, and they'll fix it. Like last winter, we had problems with the ice and the gutters, and they came out and fixed them within a couple days. It was great. We just had the siding put on this year, and so far, we're really happy. It may be a little more costly, but for the value that you get, I think it's worth it. Plus, anything you have them do comes with a warranty that carries over to the next owner of the home, so if you sell your place, the new homeowner doesn't have to worry about contract agreement. It automatically goes over, and it stays the same. They still come out and fix anything that's wrong. It's guaranteed for life. The first thing they did was they came out and told us what it would cost, and it was a little more expensive because it’s guaranteed forever. And it's all space-age type materials. It's not that paper stuff. We've been very happy with it. Their response has been very good. Their work has been very good. They have a very good working relationship with us. Whenever we needed questions answered, they were answered immediately. It's great. I'd give them an A grade.”

“They come back and they fix things when I feel they should be fixed. Nobody's perfect on their work, and I'm a perfectionist. It's a lot of small little things, but to me, the little things are important. I have a lifetime warranty with them. They did windows, roof, and siding. They did just about everything outside. My neighbor up the street, he had a roof done, so he recommended them—that's why I went with them. I was very impressed with how they did the roof, so I told them to do the siding. I’ll probably give them an A because I think they've done good work. If I know anyone else that needs work done on their house, I always recommend them.”

“They did the job very quickly. They re-roofed the house, replaced two skylights, which was the only issue I had with them and they did some fascia, replaced fascia and gutters. They only showed up with one skylight the first day and then the second one, the first one they put in OK the first day. The second one they had to come back a second time and it was a custom built one so it took a lot longer. I'd give them a B.”
