Features of Outdoor Living Spaces

Landscape lighting. Most homes’ exteriors already have a few strategically placed flood lights, but these fixtures are strictly utilitarian. Though suitable for lighting a path to take out the trash, flood lights are not ideal for outdoor living; they’re overly bright, and they often summon clouds of insects as well. Landscape lighting, when designed and installed by a professional, provides all the visibility a homeowner could want while also setting a more subtle mood. Landscape lighting is also functional, casting more than enough light to walk by or deter nighttime intruders.

Water features. Ponds and fountains make one of the most dramatic impacts on an outdoor living space. Water features create an ambience of tranquility and are often easier to build than many homeowners would think, with the most basic construction consisting of a lined excavation filled with water and ringed by attractive stones and plants.
