"The move itself was fine for the most part, my main problem was a communication issue, I was told on the phone that the extra hour would only be billed if it lasted that long, and when the movers came they told me that the extra hour would be billed anyway. When I called the main office, they told me they had never done it that way (billing an extra hour only if it took that long). I have had a great experience with 495 Movers prior to this, but I would probably not recommend them after this experience."

"The whole experience was a great waste of time, money, and energy. After quoting me for more hours than both my partner and I thought we’d every possibly need, they showed up on the day of our move. They moved with the urgency and speed of a Sunday driver. They ended up, somehow, getting all the hours in they had quoted us. However, when they came and did an EXTENSIVE pre-move walkthrough to give us an estimate, they didn’t get about 45% of the things we had agreed upon them moving. They also left things a mess and broke multiple, family heirlooms and a laptop."

"Employees who performed the initial survey and review of material to be moved seemed competent and professional but seriously misjudged the requirements to do the packing. The packing and moving crew were pleasant and courteous but undermanned and could not pack the material within the time provided. They worked until almost 10PM which was a major problem for our building management. The crew had to return the next day at an unannounced time, seriously disrupting the move schedule. They required 16 days to move the material to the west coast and when unpacking started it was clear that many of the goods were packed improperly -- clothes on hangers simply thrown into boxes in haphazard fashion, material dumped into boxes without padding, etc. Overall, a bad experience."

They failed to take note of major points regarding my move through different phone calls, namely the need for a smaller truck for delivery, the lack of an elevator at my destination, and my second floor apartment. Once my belongings were picked up, I had to initiate most of the conversations with the company regarding estimated delivery time. I also tried to initiate a promised renegotiation of the price based on an updated inventory, and was told this could be done at pick up, as things had changed since the initial quote. It was not done."

"Unlike the recommendation I received, my estimate was pretty far off from my final bill ($2000 different) and what I was told to expect (1 day of packing help and 1 day of loading) wasn't what happened (1 day of immediately starting to load without listening to my requests for help packing). In the end, we got moved without anything being broken and every person on the team was amazing at their work, but I felt so flustered throughout because of the inconsistencies between what I'd been told and what actually happened that I probably wouldn't recommend the company to others."

"Although my move is not yet complete - - 495 packed our household goods and transported them to storage at their Rockville, MD facility where they'll remain for approx. 4 months before being transported to our new home -- I have been quite satisfied on their service thus far. The sales manager, Tom Yospe, was terrific, totally customer service oriented, flexible and responsive. The office staff, headed by Priscila, has been fantastic - prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, al-around helpful. The 6-person team, led by Julio Benitez, which spent 2 days at our home, packing and loading two 24-foot trucks to the max, were well organized, respectful of our property, hard working and functioned like a well-oiled machine. I've done several major moves in my adult life, and 495 was the best I've seen in how they pack and in particular how well they protect each and every piece of furniture in padding and entirely stretched wrapped for add protection. All-in-all, I am pleased with the services provided to date."

Moving is already a stressful experience under normal circumstances, but I had to move during a pandemic from a major city when protests started throughout the country. I was reassured from the first phone call with Josh. He explained the new protocols already in place, from disinfecting the trucks, to crew members wearing masks, to delivering free boxes and packing materials to minimize any exposure to the virus. The moving crew arrived on time, were courteous, efficient in loading everything on the elevator in the high rise apartment building then onto the truck, then driving several hours out of state and meeting me in a timely manner at the destination to unload everything quickly with no problems whatsoever. Even though the initial quote I got was higher than the others, I sensed immediately that 495 Movers would do a high quality job during a stressful time in my life and would take care of me. "I was asked to sign documentation that everything was delivered and was good shape prior to the move taking place. No! Beware of that tactic The movers damaged my driveway when backing the truck in. I pointed out to them that the truck scraped the asphalt. The reponse was that I should get some black paint and paiint the scraped area. Outragious!. My wife witnessed that the movers dropped a dresser and noted that a drawer was cracked. The movers denied it. They said the drawer was cracked before. The movers were supposed to supply wardrobe boxes ahead of the move. They didn't. The movers were supposed to remove junk as per the quote for $450. They decided they needed a second truck and additional hours. Think twice before selecting this mover.hi"

"They are a mover's mover. They worked deligently, quickly, carefully and above all they were friendly and listened to all of my concerns regarding fragile furniture that required extra care. They were on time and moved me over 275 miles away without ANY incident. Also, they were always talking to their co-workers in maneuvering furniture upstairs or around corners and took no chances unless everyone was on the same page. "The amount of damages they did to my furniture made it clear to me hiring and supervising high school boys load a UHaul would have been a better choice. All of my furniture was marred in different manner. In some cases I have spent hours removing plastic film from the finish, in other cases they left rub marks that are permanent. It was the end of the day, so their only goal was to get it done. They got it moved, but the only appeared to be concerned with not breaking the furniture - if it got marked up, not their problem."

"I used this company for my move from VA to Md. At the start of the rental process everything was great but that changed on moving day. Moving day comes and the movers are in route to me i receive a phone call where an extra mover has been added to movers at an extra cost to me. I stated i should have been given the information prior to the movers coming. As a result, I was informed that no matter how long my move was i would be required to pay the full amount. So for a moved that took just over 2.5 hours I was charged over 900.00 plus tip for the drivers. My mother is about to relocate to NC and asked my moving and i told her dont do it. They will overcharge you and make it sound like you did something wrong."
