“The work appears (to my untrained eye) to be well-done, though time will tell. It was completely quickly. We are awaiting the city's inspection. There appears to be a pretty severe communication gap between the sales & administrative team at Power and the people actually doing the work. One man showed up at my house asking me for the material. (It turns out his colleague was bringing them.) One man told me in broken English that he would just place the siding over my natural gas pipe, burying it within the side of the house-- I had to call Power and be placed on hold multiple times until three different people could get involved, finally communicating to the worker on-site that this was not the appropriate (code-compliant) method of handling the issue. The on-site workers had a persistent habit of leaving power tools on the ground in my yard and on my driveway. I tried to step out my front door, only to find a power saw and drill lying there. I found a hammer on the ground and had to take it to the workers and wave it around to ask who lost it -- one man finally claimed it. As far as I was taught, this is just not a good way to treat your tools, particularly because you're just waiting for someone to step on something and get hurt -- whether that was going to be me (the customer), one of my family members, or one of the workers themselves. I reported this to at least four different people at Power. It never improved. Speaking of communication -- I was told that the main portion of my project would take 3-4 days. I confirmed with my contact person at Power that they would be ok without me being present for most of Day 2, because I had to get a day-rental office space in order to work. (I suppose I should have asked, but no one really said, "Hey, we're going to be hammering on your house nonstop for 8 hours a day, so you might not want to be inside the whole time....") I was told that my presence would be needed to do a "walk-through" of the work at the end of day 3. Imagine my surprise when I arrived home at 3pm on Day 2 and everyone was gone. Apparently the work was finished more than a day early. No one communicated anything to me about this, and I had to reach out to Power to ask what the status was. With respect to the "walk-through," I was told that a manager would have to make a special trip from the office over an hour away just to do that with me -- with oncoming bad weather, I told them just to skip it. I specifically asked in my initial inspection/measurement if the people doing the installation are Power employees and I was told YES, they are employees. In fact, they are not. They are 1099 contractors. "Crews" are contracted with Power, and they are (I was told) required to work only for Power and not for other companies. This does not make them "employees" of Power, and it seems inherently dishonest to say so. I was able to reach Power easily by both phone and text during business hours, and I had texts answered as late as 6:30pm. I do consider this a positive for Communication. Overall, I am satisfied with the project, though the aspects I've noted were somewhat bumpy.”
