“I thought they were outrageously expensive for what they actually did. All they had to do was make a drain for me in my kitchen sink. I would grade the overall experience with an A. I would probably recommend them. I think they do good work, but there's a lot of people out there that could do the work cheaper.”

“It was OK. It was alright. I think they unclogged a drain. The only thing was, they told us it was going to be one price and then they ended up sticking it to me. It's OK; it's over with now. I think they probably work on commission, so they kind of took advantage of me at the last minute and I didn't like what they did, but I wouldn't see them again. Sometimes it may just be the way it is. The work got done. That was the most important thing, but I didn't like when they told me one price and charged me another. I'd give them a C. I had no complaints with their punctuality and their cleanliness. It is unlikely I would recommend them.”

“It was fine. They're very thorough. They came out for the usual semiannual inspection and all that. They're very thorough about that. They have done drainage and plumbing in the past. That was a number of years ago. It was fine. I'd say A+. Customer service has been very good.”

“They fixed the problem. I would have liked them to clean up a bit, but they fixed the problem. They fixed a sewer backup. I would grade the overall experience with a B. They didn't clean up. I don't know if that's part of their job. I would likely recommend them.”

“I was very impressed with the fellow they sent, and I want to have him come next time. The work he did was put in some new faucets for us and clearing a drain. I would grade the overall experience with an A+. I would highly recommend them.”

“They were a little confused as to how to proceed and there was some argument about what to do. I called the company who sent over a senior plumber who explained to them and me how to proceed.”

“They did a sewer line cleanout. They were honest, unlike a previous company that lied about the condition of our sewer line and were trying to set up thousands of dollars of unnecessary work.”

“Snaked out a drain. It took too long for a plumber to arrive without a follow up call.”

“The repairman evaluated a water heater failure. He was able to isolate it to an electrical part and replace it. He partially drained the water heater. He came to the house when he said that he would. He repaired it without the cost of replacing the entire water heater.”

“They cleaned the blower motors along with performing bi-annual checkup The technician broke one of the blower motors in the process and did not catch a blocked drain line during the checkup. This caused the a/c unit upstairs to flood water into the first floor. They came out and fixed the issue and provided a new blower motor for free. The technician seemed a bit unexperienced but very professional. A more senior tech was sent out to help fix the issues. They fixed the issues and provided good customer service, which is why I am staying with them on the service contract.”

“They did a whole-house plumbing inspection and drained a gas hot water heater per the terms of the flat-rate deal offered. I paid separately to have them snake out a clog about 30 ft down the kitchen drain. They later provided an estimate for a valve replacement (work not done.) + The technician arrived on time, was personable, and didn't try to oversell me. (Unfortunately he also reeked of cigarettes.) - The 'inspection' was less thorough than I'd expected from the description - too much consisted of just my responses to questions.”

“Fixed AC. There was a problem with the coil. The first time that they came they did very little. I asked if the problem was the coil and they said no. A draining system was installed. The problem wasn't fixed. next time they went and saw that the problem was in fact in the coil. Two visits wasted.”

“Cleared clogged utility sink drain Initial experience with first estimate and work done based on that estimate was extremely positive. Due to the first positive experience, I called again for additional work estimates. Estimator seemed extremely impatient and made an appointment he did not keep.”

“We wouldn't use them again. They were very nice. However, I had them replace a sump pump right before Hurricane Sandy because I was worried that ours was too old, and it couldn't handle it. So he came the day before and replaced it. During the storm, the sump pump failed, and I was bailing water out of my basement. The plumber who installed the sump pump came over in the storm and had to leave and get a part and come back and replace it. Much to his credit, he did do that, and I appreciated that. But then it failed a second time, so we had them come back. They've been here so many times, and I was told they would be here a certain amount of time. They were here six or eight hours all day. Our basement is complicated in that we have an ejector pump installed. When the water would come in, it would fill up. They kept saying they're independent systems. Finally, after they were here three or four times and thousands of dollars later, I called my old plumber who said that the sump pump was clogged, and that it needed to be replaced. We've never had a problem since he did that. So I am not using James A. Wheat & Sons again. I signed up for their Eagle Service, which included checking everything twice a year or something like that. I didn't even want to use them for that. I hate to be harsh because they're nice people, and they did try, but they really failed me, so I'm going to give them a C.”
