We used to use another firm but they sold out and the new guys weren't very good so we ended up doing with Benjamin Franklin. We've never had to call them back for any problems. I don’t know if other plumbers would be cheaper, but we’ve been pleased with them.”

“I think the company used to be Oil Co., and then they sold out to Benjamin Franklin. I've been a homeowner in my area for 30 years, so I was very familiar with Oil Co. So, that's why I called Ben Franklin, because I knew they'd been bought out. It always costs $100 for them to show up at your door. So, I would wait until I had several issues going on and then, I say, ‘Hey, do all this while you're here for the service call.’ While we were draining the pool, my husband said, ‘The hose is leaking.’ And he grabbed a pair of pliers and tried to shut the water off a little tighter. He broke the handle on an outside faucet. So, I figured, ‘OK, here's 100 bucks.’ So, actually, I called the plumber. It was a lengthy progress, a lot longer than I anticipated. It wasn't unusual. I was satisfied with the job they did. I thought the guy was very knowledgeable, and he did a great job, in the end. I really didn't think it would take him that long, and he really didn't anticipate how much water was going to continue to come from the house, because it's a two-story. That kind of set him back, draining the pipe. So, he ended up having to cut the pipe, and he put a whole new faucet on it. He couldn't solder it with the water dripping, which I understand fully. It was really a big part of his day, and $100 job turned into a $350 job. It wasn't like it was unexpected. We dealt with it. But the guy was very professional, he was very courteous, and he was very knowledgeable. It was just like this is holding him up from doing other work, hanging around waiting for the home to drip. I would give him an A+ grade, definitely. It was more than we expected to pay, but everything in that house has been more than we expected to pay. These guys are great. They come out and the ex-owner of Oil Co, he would work payments with you. I think it's like a $100 job and it's $1,000 job. He pointed out problems like, ‘This isn't your responsibility. This is the city's responsibility.’”

“My experience with Benjamin Franklin South was fine. It was just expensive. That's all. What I liked about the service was they came out pretty quickly and they did what I asked them to do. A toilet was clogged up so they ended up having to Roto-rooter it. This was my first time to use their service. They just came when called. I would give them a B grade. I would probably not recommend them to my friends just based on price. If I were going to grade them regardless of the price, I would probably give them a B grade, still. The other problem is he couldn't find my sewage drain so he had to rip out my toilet and he charged me an extra $500 to do it. I had bought the toilet for 225 bucks. I had bought a toilet and had him take out my old one and had him install it and he charged me $500 just to pop it off and rooter from the toilet instead of finding the sewage outside. So, I was a little unhappy he couldn't find it, number one, and that he would charge that much to rip it out.”
