Solid wood. Common woods for cabinets in Georgia include maple, alder, and poplar. Each is desirable for its different tones and grains, but many species of wood can be dyed or stained to look like a more expensive material.
Veneer. Wood veneers are thin sheets of wood glued onto a plywood or particleboard base. They are less expensive than solid wood but can cover the outside of the cabinet with a hardwood look.
