“It wasn't totally negative. I think the people who work there are very nice. I used to use a different company; they bought them out, and it's been a learning process. I've been told something wouldn't cost anything—and then they come, and they try to sell it to me for $70. I argued, and then a year later they said, 'You owe us $70.' I complained again, and they said, 'Oh, you don't owe us anything.' So, their work is fine. Their work is very good. Their workmen are very competent, very nice, very organized, very clean. All good things about the work. The administration is a work in progress for new clients, I think. They did plumbing, air conditioning, and heating. The people who come out to the house to do the work—A. I would rate it that the people are really, really nice and joyable to work with.”

“I had a problem, but I kept calling, and they finally fixed it, so I guess that's good. They did plumbing and HVAC. Let's give them a C. I don't like them telling me that it's an experienced top senior person, and in walks a 27-year-old. I'm like, ‘OK, yeah right.’ Don't like that. But the most recent people I've seen have been very good, and they have corrected the problem that I was having, and hopefully that's going to work. They just left here last week, so I have to give it a try here for awhile, and see what happens. They were on time.”

“They're here when they say they're going to be here. They tell you what's going on. They show you if there's any options of what you can do, and the work is done, and it doesn't have to be done again; it's done right the first time. They've done plumbing. They checked everything in my house. They repaired two toilets in the house, repaired a bunch of things in the house, some small issues and they also put in my brand new air conditioning system two years ago. I'd rate them an A.”

“Crop Metcalfe did both plumbing and air conditioning. They were fabulous. They've always been fabulous for the heating and air conditioning. They have an annual maintenance contract, or I have a contract with them, and they're always great. But I have used them for the plumbing, and that was an absolute disaster. I would never use them again. Plumbing would be a D-. It was really bad. I couldn't get a hold of the manager; he just wouldn't call back. The guy didn't know what he was doing and created a huge disaster for me. Cleanliness was bad, because they just created a huge mess. It was the guy's incompetence that created the huge mess. For plumbing, I would not recommend them.”

“We used Crop Metcalfe to install our HVAC system, and we had a ton of problems. We ordered the system through them; our old system, they told us it was pretty much dead. Their sales people came out, we ordered a new system through them, $12,000. They came out and installed it. Two hours after they installed it, it didn't work. And we had to call them—this was like in the middle of summer and the air conditioning doesn't work—so we had to call them in the evening now, because they were at our house. They installed it all day, so now it's like eight o'clock at night, and tell them, the air conditioner doesn't work. They sent someone out that night. He could not fix it. They had to have someone come out the next day. He was there the whole day. He fixed it, and we thought it was finished—and then the county came out to inspect it, and it didn't pass inspection. It failed the inspection. So, then we called Crop Metcalfe to come back out and repair what was faulty with it so that it would pass inspection for the county. We had scheduling issues with them. They were supposed to come within a certain window of time—and I'm waiting, and waiting, and I'm calling. They're giving me a hard time about the fact that no one's at my house, and it's past the window. And I'm already frustrated because I've spent all this money, and I've had multiple appointments since it's been installed just to get the thing to work properly. And the customer service is just terrible.”

“I had a problem last summer; we were in that heat wave, and the A/C guy that I had been using before retired about six months before that. I wasn't sure who to get, and I called various people—because I guess everybody was calling these A/C companies that had problems. But I called them, and they made several trips out here to take care of me as quick as they can. They didn't get to me like the same day or the next day, but within three or four days, they were out here to see what was going on. I would give them an A. They're pretty good at customer service. They were right on time, all the time. I had a number of visits before I mentioned, ‘Replace my whole system,’ because they were trying to fix the old one, different parts were blowing out. But after I got the new one installed, the people that actually came and installed it. I left in the old humidifier and the old air purifier; whoever hooked it up actually hooked it up wrong, and those two weren't functioning correctly. But when I complained about it, they did send out somebody to take care of it, and they fixed it. So, that's why I'm saying, initially it was like a problem—but once they were aware of that problem, they took care of it.”

“For the most part, they're a good company to work with. They're good when they do the check up. I have to admit when they put in the service, they didn't check to see—because it was in the middle of summer—they didn't check if my heat worked, so when it was the first cold day of the year, it didn't work. They came out to try to fix it. Meanwhile my elderly cat died from the cold, and they were unsympathetic about getting someone out, because it was really dark, and they couldn't do the work in the dark or bring lights to do work. They came out the next day. They said they fixed it. A fuse blew, and they had to come out like three or four different times to finally make the heater work. They had a different excuse every time. Now, since then, it's been great, and when we actually had the pipe that does the water distribution, drains the water out—it burst. They came out within the hour and fixed it. So, that was great. I'd give them a B.”

“Just the expense, the fact that they had to come out twice to fix something. The fact that they never followed through with ordering parts that I ordered myself. The one that I'm thinking about in particular is plumbing. For HVAC, I asked them to make sure they brought out a ladder to get up onto my roof. They did not bring the ladder, so I had to assist the gentleman up onto my roof using a step ladder. I'd say a B-. The service men are very nice, and they showed up promptly, just when they were here, they didn't seem as completely prepared as they should be.”

“We've had to have Crop Metcalfe come back several times to resolve a problem that they couldn't diagnose the issues. They couldn't resolve the work, and my husband ended up kind of googling the issue himself, and kind of troubleshooting and finding the error, and had to point it out. Our air conditioning system would not cool upstairs, and Cropp Metcalfe had installed the air conditioning system. We have two units, and the one that was in the attic they had installed before we moved in, and one of the things they discovered was that the tubing was not attached to the unit itself—so we had been heating and cooling our attic instead of the house. So, it's a costly one and one that has been over several years, and it just got really bad this year. So, my husband sent the person to the attic, and they couldn't find the issue. My husband went back up and said, ‘I don't understand how they couldn't find the issue,’—because as he was crawling around the unit, he could feel the cold air conditioning blowing out at him, and five inches separated from the unit. I'd give them a C. The manager we dealt with finally got it—we have a contract, and it took a long time to get.”

“They did some work for me. It's good sometimes and OK at others. The last really positive experience I had was under my HVAC contract. The young man who came was really good. He was much better than the one they sent before that, and he really checked out my system. I asked him a lot of questions about things not going so well, until he checked it out, went back and forth, and put it on. He was terrific. That's the last thing I had done. The plumber I had come—it's like they have one way of doing things, and if they can't do it that way, then too bad for you. So, I called another plumber, and I thought this was going to be—the Cropp Metcalfe plumber said there was a 12-inch thing that had to be taken out, and we tried going into the wall, and we couldn't do that. So, I called another plumber, and he came and he had a little cap that he just put on the thing, and it worked right away. It depends who they send. They came and looked at it, and we opened the wall; there was a big beam down there, so you couldn't even get to the pipe in there, and so I thought I was up the creek. So, I called the other company, and I listed all the things that needed to be done. I'd give them a C. The last guy who came was wonderful. The guy who came before, I was really scared because the way he looked at things; he thought I was going to have to get a whole new system. They get back to you right away. They send a different person every time, and so it depends upon how expert and knowledgeable they are. Some of them clearly aren't.”

“The technician was fine. The support was not. When it came to payment of bill, they're pretty clueless about their payment schedules at times, and so we had some difficulty with that. It was some issue with the unit that was just installed by another company, and there were some leaks in the pipes for the A/C and they charged the unit and pretty much it. “Crop Metcalfe sent me this bill that they haven't explained; I kept calling, and nobody could answer what the bill was for that they sent me. I had an account balance that was ridiculously high, and they still haven't explained it now. I've been waiting for them to send me another bill; I didn't pay it, because it was way out of line. So, I don't know what's going on with that. So, that's my main negative, but when they've done work, it was pretty good. They did heating, air conditioning, and also plumbing. I've got both of those services I've used. Because of this unresolved bill, I'll give them a C I guess. It doesn't really fit in your scale, because it's an unresolved issue. As far as I'm concerned, it's still a pending issue that they haven't addressed. And that's in a month. I called three times since the first of September, and they said, ‘We'll call you back,’ and they never did. I'd give them a B—not considering that. The guy said he was going to do something. He never followed up in terms of giving me a number to call at the county to check some sump pump issue. And sometimes they explain stuff, and they don't put it in writing; you don't know what you're supposed to do, sometimes, so that's another issue.”

“It's been very good. The service people came, and they did everything that we requested. They were on time, and everything was taken care of properly. It's basically my heating system and air conditioning. So far, I'd have to give them an A. They've been pretty good. They were on time. They would say the time they'd arrive, and they usually arrived within the timeframe they said they would. They were very good at cleanliness, because they put on their shoes and everything else that they needed to walk through the house, and they made sure they cleaned up after them—so I have no complaints with that. For what they did, I'd have to say they're pretty well experienced, the ones that I've dealt with anyhow. They came in, they could tell me if there was any problems, or if anything needed to be done.”

“I've been using them for years. The number one thing is that they're knowledgeable about what they're supposed to be doing. They come to check my furnace and air conditioning once a year. They just came a couple of weeks ago to check it for the winter, and in the spring they check the air conditioning to see if everything is OK. And they did find out that I needed some parts, and they fixed those. They ordered them, and then someone came and put them in. I'd rate them as A+. They always come and put the little things on their shoes when they come in your house. They're very knowledgeable.”

“Excellent. They come on time. When they come, they survey what needs to be done; they explain it to you very careful, and they explain to you what the cost factors are—and any options that you have. They have the maintenance contract on two furnaces in my home, and they also put a furnace in my house, so I've had quite a bit of dealings with them. The contract that I have for the two boilers in my house and two air conditioning units—they have had the contract on them for about 12 years. I'd give it the best grade you have—A+. They're very good. You can't touch them; I wouldn't keep them 12 years if they weren't. They always show up. If they're going to be late, they call you. They're good.”

“We've had a contract with Crop Metcalfe for years, as far as I know. We've been in our house for 28 years, and as far as I know, we've worked with them the whole time. They're always on time with the schedule. The gentlemen who come to work on our systems are always polite, always telling us exactly what they're doing and what we need, so we've been happy with them. They do the air conditioning and heating. For the overall grade, I would give them an A+. We've been with them for years, and we're still with them so that would be my answer—A+. They always put on the little things over their shoes when they're walking through the house.”

“The promptness of their coming and keeping me notified was positive. They've done numerous things—cleared drains, toilets, showers and outside faucets. I have a contract for our furnace as well as our—I have a plumbing contract with them as well. I would say A. I think they're expensive; they're more expensive than many, but I would give them an A. They come for regular checkups. I think I have to make appointments now. They used to call and set it up for me, but I think I have to call and remind them that I need one. I don't know; the policies have changed a little bit. I've had a contract with them for several years.”

Your company has no respect whatsoever for homeowners who have jobs and expect a window of time scheduled for a technician to perform a routine semi-annual maintenance service visit should be honored. I have been a longtime customer since 1992. Shame on you for your poor service for faithful customers like me. I request a full refund for the current contract which was not honored.”

He was very professional, well spoken, polite, and did an excellent job with checking the furnace. The second complement is for (Charles) Chad R. He did the return call. He too was very professional, well spoken, polite, and did an excellent job with checking out why the A/C was not cooling and it gets very hot at night. I thought I checked the vents for summer but when Charles checked the vents were closed upstairs and opened in basement. He also scheduled to have a home performance test. The third complement is for Jonathan F. who performed the Home Comfort Test. He did a great job with explaining everything to my Mom, professional, well spoken, polite, and did an excellent job with checking out the whole house and put together an excellent report of what was wrong and what needed to be done. “We have used Crop Metcalfe for about 1 years and have always been very pleased with their service and staff. The first time that we used Cropp was an installation of a ductless heating and cooling system in our conservatory and we were so pleased with the staff and the system that we switched from the previous contractor that had serviced our units for over 25 plus years. The entire experience with this company is very positive, from calling to schedule routine service, to calling when there is a problem service call we have never had to wait and the appointments have always been scheduled either the same day or the very next one. This was not the case with our previous service company so this was a very nice change. We are planning to replace our main system in the next year or so and will definitely have Crop Metcalfe do the installation. We have also used their plumbing service and have also been pleased. Would certainly recommend them.”

“The telephone service has improved, but there is still some wait time. The service I received was for the semi-annual equipment check. The technician did a very quick, almost perfunctory, check of the system, said he should change the filter, which he did not do. To be fair, I may have mentioned having filters myself, so he may have thought I was going to change it. He did not do the temperature check (at the floor register) that I have seen other technicians do. Other than that I had no complaints.”

“Basically, I had an A/C problem. The technicians came out as expected, but from the time they diagnosed the problem and then had an agent call to give me a price on repairs was way too long - over a week. I had someone else, who was more prompt to do the necessary repairs.”
