“My workers were talented and caring.”

“The PEOPLE we came face to face with in this company were very, very kind. They worked hard. They seemed to do their best. However, the MANAGEMENT of these workers, and the overall timeline of the installation of an extremely pricey door, left A LOT to be desired. So much so, in fact, we remain confused to this day, as to WHO ultimately is to blame. The “promises” during the sales and promotion of this door were NOT accurate. The process from ordering, to final installation took 9 very long months, and several of those months were even spent with a front door that the company KNOWINGLY allowed to fail to lock. In the past history of our pursuit of a “properly functioning, beautiful, energy efficient front door”, we had dealt with numerous companies who failed miserably to deliver what they promised. When we finally “pulled the trigger” on purchasing THIS door with HomeFix Custom Remodeling Charlotte…we were ASSURED that we would NO LONGER have to endure THAT kind of frustration. BUT ULTIMATELY…. after HomeFix Custom Remodeling Charlotte removed the original door and sidelights…..installed one new door and sidelights… didn’t have the correct hardware for the new door…..literally “beat” the hardware on my foyer floor with a hammer????…duct taped over the hardware holes and reordered the hardware…..finally received the hardware that ultimately was non functioning to lock the door…..reordered the door and the hardware AGAIN…. Then waited months….and then yet ANOTHER door and hardware was installed ….we ONLY NOW have a “beautiful, energy efficient front door”

“Recommend this company? Don't make me laugh! They are not experienced or even amateur window installers. I would recommend consumers avoid this company at all cost. They do shoddy work, and do not pay for damage done to your house while trying, and I mean trying, to install windows. Customer service entails making excuses, lies and ignoring phone calls. First, an HFCR employee came to the house and measured incorrectly the openings (height and width) of the openings for four windows. When the installers tried to install the windows, they ran into difficulties. The three double-hung windows were far narrower than the old window frame, and were difficult to set up in the frame since the measurements were incorrect. The large picture window was too large to fit the measured opening. Naturally, the windows when installed were not level and balanced. The double hung windows were not shimmed, either. The picture window was too big for the measured opening so the installer just hammered the window into the opening for several hours, damaging the window. He also damaged the cedar siding on my house ( I have yet to be compensated for the damage.) and ripped out the flashing and didn't replace it, thus causing rain water to flow into the house from the window frame. Since the picture window was damaged by the installer, the company needed to order another picture window to fit the window opening. However, the company did send someone to replace the flashing above the picture window. While the installers were installing the double-hung windows I requested that the sills should be replaced because of rot. Naturally, the head installer refused, and hit the sill in question with a hammer about 20 times to assure me it was in good condition. Now there are about 20 dents in my sill thanks to this moron. Customer service is absolutely terrible. Customers get passed around from one person to another and nobody wants to be responsible so they would ignore, not acknowledge, or play dumb to our previous demands and recommendations, or say someone else will take care of that. After installation and complaining, the Window installer technician supervisor came to the house and confirmed that the window openings for all four windows were incorrect and all the windows needed to be properly shimmed. The original installers did not shim any of the windows to make sure they were level and balanced in the opening. He viewed the damage to the large picture window and put in an order to replace the installed window with a smaller one. He also agreed to fix the window stop on one of the windows since it was malfunctioning, and shim the three double-hung windows. The installer technicians supervisor showed concern and wanted to fix the problem, but, to my dismay, I later discovered he had resigned from the company. I spoke with him after he quit the company and he said he left the company because of poor customer service.”

“The schedule changed three times, they ran out of the proper underlayment that was sold to me and used three other left over types from other jobs, I had to fight and argue with the company to get it fixed. I was assured the work would be done by GAF factory trained professionals but it was done by Guatemalan refugees or likely illegals. The good part is they worked hard and efficiently and it was installed properly. The process and supplies they ran out of were unacceptable. Had I not been there supervising the entire job from start to finish, I would never have known I got ripped off. That’s the true take-away from this experience.”

“The front door for a single panel oak was 4,500.00. They quoted 3k on a sliding glass door. I thought the price was decent. The quality and workmanship stank. I would not recommend them.”

“I would not recommend HomeFix Custom Remodeling Charlotte to a friend. The agreements that aren't in writing aren't worth anything. You can't trust them. They said the job would take 1-2 days to complete. It took 5 days. I couldn't communicate with the crew because they didn't speak English. I couldn't communicate with them for the first 6 hours of the job. I had to stay on top of the crew. I had to ask for simple things, like removing handprints from the windows. There was broken glass in the driveway and inside house. Both my son and wife got cut. A month later, I found glass inside the bed in another room. I was cut on the leg. The window wrapping was poor and uneven. I had to schedule a service repair right after the install. The left a ladder leaning up against my new window for 3 days. They didn't close the doors behind themselves. They left the front and back doors open. This caused mice to come inside my house.”

“The sales pitch we received left us wondering if we just got taken advantage of. We were given a quote over $11,000.00 for a single entry door but if we bought that day, the price would drop to over $7000,00. After we said we would have to think about it, the sales rep went out to his car and sat out front of the house for a while. He then came back and offered us a quote of a little over $4900.00. We agreed to the quote but after he left , I still felt we may have gotten ripped off.”
