Preparing for a Remodel

Because home remodeling can be an extensive ordeal that lasts from several days to several months, doing everything you can to properly prepare will help save time. If the contractor shows up to do the work and the necessary preparations have not been made, then the project will be delayed or end up taking longer than planned.

Although many contractors will be able to move some of the more cumbersome items for you, homeowners are typically responsible for clearing out any small things in the room that can get in the way or be damaged. Many room remodels, such as kitchens and bathrooms, include new cabinets or storage space, so be sure to pack away everything from your current cabinets before any work begins. If everything has been thoroughly cleaned and moved out of the way, the contractor will be able to get straight to work.
