What Is Low-E Glass?

Low-emissivity glass, or Low-E glass, is glass that is specially coated to resist ultraviolet light. The thin, metallic coating applied to Low-E glass will also reduce visible light transmission by about 10 percent as compared to uncoated glass. This will reduce glare, protect your furnishings by minimizing their exposure to direct sunlight, and reduce your home’s cooling cost. Essentially, Low-E glass lets sunlight in while keeping the accompanying heat out.
