Speaker Wire Information
Speaker wire is identified by the thickness of its copper bundle, referred to as its gauge. The lower the gauge is, the thicker the bundle and the better the sound will be. Most speaker wire on the market ranges from 12 to 16 gauge. Besides the desired sound quality and price, you should also consider the distance between the speaker and the amplifier. Long wire runs will tax the system’s power, thus reducing sound quality and requiring a thicker gauge.
