How to Tell if You Have Drainage Problems

How to tell if you have drainage problems. Determining if your lawn needs a drainage system isn’t always as obvious as simply noticing large puddles that refuse to go away. Even if you don’t have standing water after a heavy rain, your lawn may be draining improperly if some areas are dying for no apparent reason or if patches of grass seem unhealthy, even though they’re getting regular water and sun. And of course, if water is leaking into your home, it’s probably an indication that you need to consult a drainage professional.

Why is standing water bad for your lawn? If your lawn isn’t draining properly, it’s likely to have puddles that persist well past the end of a rain shower. These puddles are a perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes, which like to lay their eggs in standing water. Standing water can also damage the health of your lawn by suffocating the grass.
