Almost everyone loves the outdoors during the fall, and it’s a great time to take a breather in a local park. That was the case recently when a large group of animal lovers got together with their dogs for some fun in the sun on Sunday, September 29th, for the third annual Paws in the Park walk in Atlanta. Paws in the Park is a charity dog walk that raises funds to care for the rescued dogs and cats at Atlanta Pet Rescue & Adoption, a nonprofit no-kill shelter. The day of the walk turned out to be beautiful, and lots of excited dogs and their owners attended. EBSCO Research served as a corporate sponsor for the event, and volunteers ran a booth to interact with participants and give away delicious doggie treats. People who visited the EBSCO Research booth were also given the opportunity to win an iPad Mini and a $250 gift card to Pet Supermarket when they signed up to receive our email newsletter, which features essential home care articles and seasonal maintenance advice.

Other volunteers from EBSCO Research brought their pooches along for the mile-long walk. “As a walker, it was a really positive and fun event,” says Emily Varon, the head of customer service and owner of two dogs. “My favorite part of the walk was when a dog that got adopted at the event started the whole thing off.”

The shelter recently acquired a big, new facility, so donations went toward renovating the space as well as toward medical care and rehabilitation services for animals all over Atlanta. “It was really nice to know what the event was paying for,” says happy dog owner Stephanie Singleton, one of the EBSCO Research volunteers. In addition to the walk, Paws in the Park hosted several demonstrations, pet adoptions, family-friendly activities, and education on animal-related issues. If you believe in the cause, then you don’t have to wait for the next charity event to help out—adopt a pet, or donate or volunteer at your local animal shelter, knowing that your support will help a friend in need.
